Mollee Gray Talks ‘So You Think You Can Dance!’
After appearing in all three of the High School Musical movies, Mollee rose to fame on the reality show, So You Think You Can Dance, where she made the top 8 on the sixth season of the popular talent competition. While she has since dabbled in the singing and acting world, she hasn’t forgotten where she started — she still supports the show that gave her her first big break! Not only does she still watch the show, she finds herself playing favorites when it comes to this seasons’ contestants!
“I actually have a couple of favorites,” she told us. “I really like Amy, and I like Jenna, and I like Nico.”
And looking back on her own season, she definitely has a favorite dance she performed.
“My waltz with Jakob,” she said. “[It is] still, to this day, my favorite dance that I’ve ever done in my life.”
Is Mollee Anything Like Her ‘Teen Beach Movie’ Character, Giggles?
In the film, Mollee portrays the always-energetic, bubbly, happy Giggles, but is she anything like her character in real life? She told us all about the similarities that she sees between the real Mollee and Giggles:
I see a lot of myself in her. I think I’m a girl who loves to have fun… I’m usually the energetic one of the group. I never really get in a bad mood or frustrated unless there’s confrontation… So, I think it’s actually pretty accurate that Giggles and I are actually the same person.
But while they may have similar personalities, there is definitely one thing that separates the two: Mollee doesn’t know to surf!
“I did not get to surf, but I wish I did because I really want to learn!” she told us. “I went surfing one time in Hawaii and I tried to, but I stepped on a sea urchin, so I’ve been scared to go out surfing ever since.”
Mollee Gray Is ‘Definitely Interested’ In a ‘Teen Beach Movie’ Sequel
Will a Teen Beach Movie sequel be coming to a television screen near you? While a second film hasn’t been officially announced quite yet, with the success of the movie — it was the second most watched cable TV movie ever, behind High School Musical 2 — it’s bound to happen! As if the prospect of more Wet Side Story isn’t enough, we’re thrilled to hear that Mollee would totally be into the idea of reprising her role of Giggles again!
“It’s something that I’m definitely interested in,” she told us. “With the success rate that it had, I’m hoping they’ll do it because I think the fans will like to see more of our characters and stuff. I’m hoping, but we don’t know yet.”
