Lamar was reportedly arrested for driving under the influence — but that’s actually the best thing that could have happened to him right now, an addiction expert tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. Read on to find out why.
Amid reports that Lamar Odom is battling a drug addiction, he was reportedly arrested early in the morning on Aug. 30 for a DUI. This may sound like terrible news, but addiction and intervention expert Steven Ornstein says the arrest might be just the wake-up call Lamar needs right now.
Lamar Odom’s Drunk Driving Arrest — DUI Is His Wake-Up Call
Lamar’s wife, Khloe Kardashian, has reportedly been trying desperately to get him to go to rehab, but he refused. Now that he seems to have hit rock bottom, however, maybe things will turn around for him.
“If Lamar is unwilling to go to rehab right now, the best thing that could happen to him is that he get arrested — that might wake him up,” Steven, co-founder of Neurodevelopmental Learning Institute in Playa del Rey, Calif., tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
Lamar is headed down a dangerous path, and it’s very important that he seek help immediately, Steven says.
“Regardless of Lamar’s drug of choice, if he doesn’t get professional help and get into detox and rehab, he only has three things to look forward to in his life: jail, institutions, death,” Steven adds.
Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that! Lamar has a strong support system, but while he can count on Khloe to help him through this difficult time, unfortunately she can’t save him on her own.
“Lamar needs to get clean for himself, not for someone else,” Steven says. “If he is getting clean for someone else, it will never work. He is sick. No matter how much he loves Khloe, that love is not enough to get him better.”
Things seem really bad for Lamar, but we hope his arrest will force him to confront his problems head on.
