I can add a few more groups after hearing One Direction’s Best Song Ever that their next album might sound like–U2, ’80s anthemic chorus era Bon Jovi, a little David Lee Roth of Van Halen era (Harry even had that cocksure Ow in the verses a la David Lee). And that’s what I heard in that song with the big choruses and over the top guitars. I think It’s cool we’ll hear influences of Who, Led Zeppelin and Kiss, but I also feel that Bon Jovi vibe with the big choruses and Heyyyyys. They tried to do that on the last album but it was lost in the pop driven mix of the album– maybe this time they want the loud rock guitars. But I agree with the group members and the one of the album’s producers–young artists do have to grow and mature with their sound and music. You can’t be trapped in the past and I think they want to get better as a freestanding group with the new album. I like that they’re writing more on this effort and not have a committee and floods of producers write the songs–it has to come from them fully.
