Marshall Mathers is back! While everyone was losing their minds over the VMAs on Aug. 25, Eminem stole the show with a commercial announcing his next album!
It’s been over three years since Eminem dropped his last album, but the wait is almost over! Stealing the VMAs’ thunder on Aug. 25, the rapper announced his next album — out on November 5, 2013, as part of a Beats by Dre commercial.
Eminem Announces ‘MMLP2’ During MTV VMAs
Eminem pulled a total Jay Z during the VMAs, busting out a commercial to broadcast the upcoming arrival of his next album. After a man plugged in some Beats by Dre headphones, Em’s voice could be hear dropping some vicious rhymes. And that’s when the good news came — “MMLP2” flashed across the screen, followed by “11/5/13.”
The commercial also revealed that the album is produced by Dr. Dre (which explains the headphones connection) and Rick Rubin. At the same time, Eminem’s website updated with an announcement that a new single called “Berzerk” is set to drop on Tuesday, Aug. 27!
With insane performances by Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga, the VMAs have not disappointed, but this news might be better than anything we’ll see all night. The Marshall Mathers LP, which dropped in 2000, is widely regarded as one of the best modern hip-hop albums. It put Eminem on the map.
We can’t even imagine how good the followup is going to be — especially considering how good that small snippet in the commercial sounded, and that it’s produced by two of the best rap producers around.
Eminem definitely knows how to steal the show and blow the game WIDE OPEN.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Are you excited for the new Eminem album?
