The final week of quarter-final eliminations brought major twists and turns before heading into next week’s semi-finals. Did your favorites land a spot in the top 20?

America’s Got Talent has finally reached its final elimination before the semi-finals. The last round of cuts included some surprises — and some not-so surprises. Train also made a pit stop at Radio City Music Hall and performed their hit “Bruises” with Ashley Monroe and season-seven runner-up Tom Cotter returned to the America’s Got Talent stage.

‘America’s Got Talent': Aug. 21 Results

The Virginia State University Gospel Chorale, musician Dave Fenley, singer Selena Mykenzie Gordon were the first group up on the chopping block. This elimination was really between VSU and Dave after Selena’s rocky performance the night before. In a surprising twist, America went with Dave! Not that Dave isn’t fantastic, but VSU’s performance was also great.

Next up was kid group 2Unique, shadow dancers Catapult Entertainment, and Melody Caballero, who replaced Red Panda in the competition. It was no contest in this group, Catapult literally catapulted into the semi-finals after their stunning Aug. 20 performance. Howard Stern once again praised this dance group and believes their performance was one of the best on America’s Got Talent ever!

Now this is when things get nasty. Dancing duos and sibling rivals D’Angelo & Amanda and Ruby & Jonas were next. Seriously, you put the brother and sister in the same group? That’s cold, AGT. COLD. Even though D’Angelo bested his sister in performance, it was really either of theirs to take. America chose D’Angelo & Amanda and Ruby is left crying. Things might be a little awkward at home now for D’Angelo and Ruby.

‘America’s Got Talent’: Pitting Ruby Against D’Angelo Was Too Cruel

The last trio elimination before the judges’ wildcard pick is acrobats Duo Resonance, comedian John Wing, and extreme engineer Sprice. The awkward but crazy-skilled Sprice is first to go and it’s down to Duo Resonance and John.

Although Heidi Klum finally understood a comedian’s jokes and really enjoyed John’s performance, she went with Duo Resonance. Have no fear John Wing fans because Mel B, Howie Mandel, and Howard all went with John!

There you have it folks — your top 20 acts on America’s Got Talent! It’s been a whirlwind five weeks and some of our favorites were sent packing but this season of America’s Got Talent is definitely the best yet!

So HollywoodLifers, what did YOU think of tonight’s eliminations? Did your favorites go home? Who are you most looking forward to in the semi-finals? Let us know!

America Got Talent, putting the wool over our eyes. All the good acts and groups are out. What is left over is not the best talent. A country singer, a comedian, and what ever. It is totally fixed. I was so upset about last night it was so clear when the shadow people were voted out. Only the three singers are left as a group. All the other groups are out . Fixed, fixed, fixed. How will we know how many votes they get. We will never know and we have no say in the voting even though they say we do. I am so dissapointed. No more talent show for me.

Acrobats Duo Resonance was so much more talented than comedian John Wing. I’m sure America voted him through and that is way the judges had to decide. The show is obviously fixed. I will never watch another episode.

I meant to say America didn’t vote for John Wing. There are too many comics on the show. None of them are exciting enough to be at radio city music hall. Howie is always saying how all the acts are not big enough or exciting enough to be there, yet he votes for all of the really boring comedians. John Wing is depressing as well as boring.
The show is fixed, fixed, fixed.

I can’t believe Mel B would use her wild card to bring back “B double O-T-Y” and not give it to Ruby and Jonahs. I’m always awed at their performance, and D’Anjelo and Amanda. I would pay to see them, but not even a nickle for BOOTY or Duo Resonance, who Heidi brought back. So disappointed. And the way AGT eliminated them was crappy, too.

I too am glad Ruby got eliminated. I’m kind of sick of the whole family since they’ve been on this show multiple times in different permutations. Ruby however just comes off as a prima donna little brat, I find nothing “cute” about her. She’s kind of the poster child of whats wrong with kids. Her brother seems much more down to earth and doesn’t overplay everything. Her ego needs to come WAY down.

Ruby and D’Angelo should have performed on different nights. That was stupid to group them. You can see that AGT tries to spread out similar acts over different nights…the opera singers were spread out, the country singers, etc. But these almost identical acts were pitted against each other…shame on you AGT,

Glad Ruby was sent home. Her facial expressions were too animated and her dancing was cheezy. Like a friggen cartoon character. They should have an age limit for AGT, because kids get too blubbery. Not mature enough to be in that competition anyways.

Thanks for that original critique, silly parrot. I guess the judges actually DO influence the viewing audience. Sad. And yes, it was animated and over the top, because they’re kids dancing. If you want serious adult dancing, don’t expect it from kids for crying out loud.

That’s called LIVE theater. The expressions are exaggerated. She was telling a story and performed her routine PERFECTLY, better than most of the adults who have gone through. It was a shame they were sent home.

I’m kinda glad Ruby got eliminated. She seemed more concerned about beating her brother than actually winning, and then when she got eliminated, it was more about her than anything. I didn’t see anything from her that made it seem like she was happy for her brother. So I think America made the right choice.

Also, can we talk about her poor dance partner for a second? Everyone is so fixated on Ruby and her undying competition with D’Angelo (who doesn’t seem to care at all about all that) that we forget about her accessory…um..partner.
