
The 25-year-old gunman thought to be responsible for the shooting at the Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy on Aug. 20, has been taken into custody. It turns out he had an AK-47 and surrendered ‘peacefully’ after being approached by two officers.
Thankfully, the suspect in the school shooting that occurred on Aug. 20 in Decatur, Ga., has been arrested and no one was hurt. The unnamed man reportedly walked into the Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy and told a school employee to call the local Channel 2 TV station with the story and tell them that he “wasn’t afraid to die.” Luckily a tragedy was avoided and all of the children are “safe and accounted for.”
Georgia School Shooting Suspect Arrested
The man reportedly walked in and told a female employee to call the news and that he wanted the police to “back up.” Then shots were fired around 1 p.m. The man was reportedly dressed in black, and carrying an AK-47 rifle.
The interim Superintendent Michael Thurmond spoke with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and said: “Shooter apprehended; all kids safe and accounted for.”
Meanwhile, parents were absolutely terrified as they waited at a nearby Walmart, that’s where they were instructed to pick up their children.
