Can a home be down to earth AND fit for a king? The Middleton family estate proves to be equal parts ‘country-chic’ and royally elegant. After all, it has been Prince George’s home for the first weeks of his life! Get the inside scoop on the home right here!
Prince George is enjoying some time out in the country with his parents Kate Middleton and Prince William. Bucklebury Manor, the Middleton family’s estate in West Berkshire, is somehow as elaborate as it is cozy. Even though it’s far less grand than the prince’s future home, Kensington Palace, it’s still completely luxurious!
Prince George’s Home In Bucklebury: The Middleton Family Estate
The Bucklebury estate home was purchased for £4.7 million (over $7 million) in 2012 and have made it into a wonderful country escape. It has seven bedrooms and a pool — which makes it a perfect spot for visitors!
“The Middletons’ home is decorated in a country-chic style. It’s not as grand as you’d expect,” a source tells InTouch Weekly. The home also has “the most fantastic view,” says the source. The quiet country home overlooks beautiful scenery and gardens — and has lots of farm animals like sheep right outside!
Even though the Middleton home is a lot more toned down than the palace, the happy new grandparents also made sure that the home was fit for the future king! “The Middletons spared no expense,” an insider tells InTouch Weekly about the Bucklebury estate. In preparing for the royal baby’s stay, the Middletons fitted the manor with “a frilly crib, a daybed, and an en suite bathroom.”
“This is their first grandchild,” after all, explains the mag’s source. “So Kate’s folks went all out!”
Security First At The Bucklebury Estate
The Manor is far from being a small cottage, though it may feel like one in comparison to the palace. As much as Will and Kate want their son to live a normal life, they can’t live completely without guards and security! To ensure the royal family’s security in Bucklebury, “a ring of steel was placed around the property,” reports E! News. “Thanks to a joint effort between local police and the Royal Protection Squad, the estate is patrolled by police and officers an horseback.”
Also, “the surrounding fields are being combed through to make sure the house is intruder-proof,” an inside source tells InTouch Weekly.
Royal Family Moving Into Kensington Palace
Prince George’s permanent residence will be in Kensington Palace. The palace is renovating Apartment 1A, a 20-room offshoot for the new family. The entire family –Duke, Duchess, and the baby! — is expected to move into Apartment 1A in September.
