Another week, another round of quarter-finalists competing for only four spots in the ‘America’s Got Talent’ semi-finals. Did your favorites get another week, or did they get cut?

America’s Got Talent continued to make headway toward the semi-finals with another round of cuts on the Aug. 14 episode. There were some no-brainers and some shockers, but we wouldn’t expect anything less from this hit show. The Backstreet Boys also stopped by to give a heart-stopping performance of their new single “In A World Like This,” as well as the epic throwback “I Want It That Way.”

‘America’s Got Talent': Aug. 14 Results

The first group up for elimination included daredevil David Ferman, kid rockers The Robotix, the dance group SensEtion, and Tummy Talk. While we loved David’s death-defying act, it wasn’t enough to put him through to the next round. But David shouldn’t feel too bad; no one else from his group made it through, either. Group hug!

Next up was 3Penny Chorus and Orchestra and singer Cami Bradley. This was the absolute no-brainer of the night, as Cami flew past 3Penny and took her rightful place in the semi-finals.

The family unicyclists Champions Forever, country crooner Jimmy Rose, and ice-skating group Aerial Ice made up the third group. We loved Jimmy and Aerial Ice’s performances last night, so this one was tough — and America decided to back the war vet, keeping Jimmy around.

OK, this is where things got intense: The final group consisted of the amazing acrobat Timber Brown, southern singing cutie Chloe Channell, and comedian Taylor Williamson. They were all so good in their performances, but with only two spots left, who would be cut?

Timber was quickly sent through to the semi-finals, leaving only Chloe and Taylor. Back to the judges… Heidi Klum chose Chloe, while Howie Mandel went with Taylor. A tie. This solved nothing. Next to vote was Howard Stern, who went with Taylor. And the final vote was Mel B‘s – and she chose Chloe!

The all-tied-up decision was then sent back to the votes, and America chose…Taylor Williamson!

(Sorry, Chloe!)

To my fellow AGT fans: I watch AGT faithfully. I was married the second week of August, so I missed the week that I was on my honeymoon. Since I returned home I have been searching all of the AGT Results Videos to find out what happened to Branden James??? I have searched under every topic imaginable and can’t find out why he is no longer in the competition. If anyone out there can enlighten me I would really appreciate it. Even though I am not a big opera fan I love him. I thought he was outstanding!!! I thought he was good enough to win the competition. Someone please catch me up on what I missed. Thanks so much. Kim

It is annoying that singers seem to easily get by when in all reality their ‘talent’ is THE EASIEST thing to do in comparison to all other types of acts. But sadly thats also why its so likeable and for some reason add an easy sob story and for some reason America will think youre just greatest thing ever! I honor Jimmy for serving our country but youve got to be kidding me that he gets by for talent. His voice is just not that amazing but people are easy to love him because of his backstory.

Cami didnt even do as great as she did but her orginal take of a song is wonderful and she does have an ‘it’ factor and radient personality so i dont mind she made it through. It sucks that 3Penny Chorus and Orchestra though did not make a good song choice because they were one of my favorites coming into this (loved their audition despite me hating ‘Call Me Maybe’)

So glad Timber made it hands down the most entertaining and intense performance that night (well others were more intense but i typically hate watching danger acts but Timbers is original and fluid so it works)

Im also really glad Taylor made it.. i get he isnt likely to win since his humor doesnt appeal to all, but he is a natural talent and deserves to go through. Comedy is one of the hardest acts to do on a talent show so i admire when a comedien can pull it off on a show like.. especially when you know the comedian probably has amazing material that they cant use on family orientated show. Taylor does strike me as a comedian that probably has some unexpectedly raunchy material but cant use that for this show but what he is giving us is still witty and hilarious…

So glad Chloe didnt make it through. Child acts have it hard but in reality if theyre not a knockout amazing at what they do then its.. Jackie Evancho is perhaps the only child act I felt deserved to win.. but even then she couldnt beat a mediocre singer and his band but why? Because people dont vote based off who deserves it they base it on the stupid premise and prize the judges repeat about ‘if i were to see this in Vegas.’ People base this on whod they actually watch in Vegas so whenever kid acts make it far even when theyre talented it reverts back to ‘im not going to watch this kid if i go to Vegas.’

Last season was finally a break from singing acts in the finale (if you dont include singing in the Earth Harp act) and the season before Iluminate and Silouhettes helped pioneer interesting dance-tech fusions or shadow dancing that we seem to be seeing more of now.. but im sad that this season seems to be reverting back to going for aingers because its easy… however some of my favorites are to come next week including Catapult (the shadow dancers) and Red Panda (the balancong bowl on a unicycle act)..

I hate how singers are getting through… Why aren’t these singers trying to compete in all the other voice competitions that are on television? This is a TALENT competition! NOT a singing competition. I’m not saying that they are bad singers… I’m just saying that this is not the competition for them.

howard stern and heide can leave the show, howard is a windbag.this is more about the judges than the performers.less talk and more acts would be nice!

I may be the only one who feels this way but I find Taylor Williamson totally annoying, Has anyone noticed that this guy never seems to break character, the whole lead in piece about what he does at home was in character. His remarks to the judges were rude and disrespectful at times. Somethings really wrong with this guy. Also using the piece of paper as a cue card for his jokes was totally unprofessional and the judges should have called him on it. Taylor Williamson is irritating not funny.

Good Company

Posted at 5:29 PM on August 15, 2013

George Carlin and Richard Lewis were famous for reading off of pieces of paper during their acts — I’d say that that is pretty good company for Williamson. In fact, when Williamson pulled out his ‘cue card’, Carlin came to mind and I immediately thought, “brilliant touch”. Of course Williamson stays in character, that’s his whole schtick. In fact, I am confident that Williamson would be flattered if you told him that you think he is ‘irritating’, ‘rude’, ‘disrespectful’, and something is wrong with him! It’s not him you dislike, it is his character which he is quite good at promulgating — that is why he got through to the next round, talent.

being awkward is not a talent. laughing at everyone of your OWN jokes doesnt make them funny. rewatch all his performances. the crowd was pretty dead in most of them. Lewis Black and George Colin comment on social disparity, Williamson just keeps making rape jokes.

America’s Got Talent is a joke. I used to enjoy it but it has become like all shows just another fake put on. Acts get cancelled that should make it and the dumb judges let acts go through that they know should never have been picked and knew that they would never make go anywhere so in other words we never get to see acts that are good or might possibly go all the way just for ratings sake. In the words of Howard Stern the act was dry and like wall paper, that’s why I don’t listen to any more Howard because you are the same. I will not watch this stupid show again.

Cami stole that song from Britains Ella Henderson. Don’t know why she is taking credit for the song changes but she sang it well. Ella sang it better!!!

I’m upset about Heidi’s comments concerning Taylor Williamson Tuesday night. She said she’s looking for an act she could take her children to. Is that a criteria for the contestants? That they have to be kid-friendly at all times? Woody Allen made a career of being a “loser”. Most comedians today are so foul-mouthed, Taylor seems refreshing! Just because he jokes about dating – why would they allow him to compete if the criteria is that it has to be something children can relate to? (Maybe some parents wouldn’t appreciate the comments about being gay made by a couple of the contestants either! Should those comments necessary to the show? – personally I don’t care.) But I don’t think it’s fair to judge the “content” for kid-understanding for commedians yet singers can sing about whatever they choose – even religious music like Ave Maria and stuff – without the judges criticizing the song. (“I love your voice but don’t like the song so I won’t vote for you” – its’ stupid!)

Putting Jimmy Rose through is why Adam Levine said he hated America, (meaning the American public that views the Voice.) He got through because of his story not his talent. He is ok but nothing special. But the guy who got through the first week is beginning to convince me that a large portion of the viewers of this show are back water yokels who would vote for ANY country singer. THE GUY WAS HORRIBLE! And I’m from the South.
