This is the most heartbreaking story. Two young Philadelphia teachers have died after a terrible car accident. The newlywed couple was pregnant with their first child, and the dying husband pleaded with paramedics to save his wife over him when they arrived on the scene. Unfortunately it was too late for both of them.

Jamie Soukup Reid, 25, and her husband Will Reid, 26, have died following a tragic car crash in Asheville, North Carolina. Jamie was pregnant with the couple’s first child. Perhaps the most heart-wrenching detail of the story is that the first sonogram pics of their baby were recovered in the mom-to-be’s purse after the accident.

Newlyweds Killed In Car Accident — Husband Begged EMTs To Save Pregnant Wife

Jamie and Will were passengers of a hired limousine in North Carolina when the driver lost control of the car and crashed it into a tree.

Pregnant Jamie died immediately in the crash, but her husband did not know and pleaded with paramedics responding to the scene to save her first. Will died from his injuries later at the hospital.

Jamie’s father, Ron Soukop, told the Philadelphia Inquirer:

We lost our two kids and our first grandchild. She had the ultrasound pictures in her purse.

The couple married in May and were in North Carolina to attend a friend’s wedding.

The car’s driver, Rodney Koon, remains in the hospital following the crash. He potentially faces charges for the crash, pending investigation into the cause of the deadly crash. According to search warrant applications filed on August 13, police investigators said that the driver’s “actions directly contributed to the collision,” the Asheville Citizen-Times reported.

Newlyweds’ Families Mourn Loss Of Beautiful Young Couple

Will’s father, James Reid, told the Philadelphia Inquirer that the young couple were a perfect match for one another:

He was very talkative and had a dry wit. He was very funny. She was just beautiful and nice and happy. She was very caring. They were very much caring for each other.

Just seeing a picture of Jamie and Will shows how close and happy they were.

Our thoughts are with the couple’s family at this tragic time.
