Kendrick Lamar, 26, has divided the rap community over his controversial lyrics on Big Sean‘s “Control.” Now, Meek Mill, 26, is speaking out in a brand new interview about the song which he calls friendly “competition.”
Meek Mills Responds To Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Control’ Lyrics
Did Meek get offended by Kendrick calling out the likes of A$Ap Rocky, Drake, and then calling himself the “King of New York?” Nope, it couldn’t be further from how he feels!
“It definitely wasn’t insulting,” Meek said. “Kendrick Lamar, I don’t think he was trying to insult any of us, you know. We all know each other personally. There were a lot of names that weren’t mentioned … It was a competition thing. I live for competition. Everyone who knows me knows I don’t want to lose in a game of nothing. I don’t want to lose in a game of tic-tac-toe. I’m not going to make a diss record for Kendrick Lamar. But if he wants to get competitive, we’re going to have some fun.”
We think this is the totally right attitude about the song. There was no ill will meant by Kendrick, this is just what rappers do!
Diddy Slams Kendrick Lamar On Instagram For Calling Himself The ‘King Of New York’
We told you that Diddy responded to Kendrick’s lyrics with a pic on Instagram of himself laughing with Jay-Z, along with the message: “Kendrick got ya’ll n****s taking ya’ll time now. What ya’ll gonna do now. Haaaa lol lets go!”
We’re sure Diddy was upset because he considers himself the King of the Big Apple. Worth mentioning, Kendrick is from Compton, California — not a native New Yorker by any means.
More Rappers Respond To Kendrick Lamar
Big K.R.I.T., seems to agree with Meek and he said in an interview that he liked the verse:
Rap, Hip Hop has always been mad competitive. It’s exciting because it was probably crazier for his fans, for him to mention my name among rappers that people would consider top tier, [rappers] people kind of look at as being the future and my name just randomly popped up. So what I got an opportunity to see a little bit last night and this morning, was just people that probably never tweeted me before, whether it be negative or positive. For me, it was like, ‘Thank youñ for the promotion.'”
Pusha T even tweeted: “I heard you loud and clear my n****.”
