How incredibly tragic. After spending two days on life support following a suicide attempt, Gia passed away on August 14.
Gia Allemand has died at age 29. The former star of The Bachelor and Bachelor Pad was hospitalized late on August 12 after she tried to hang herself at her home in New Orleans. Her mother and boyfriend Ryan Anderson were with her at the hospital throughout her ordeal.
Gia Allemand Dead At 29
Gina was taken to New Orleans’ University Hospital “following a serious emergency medical event,” on August 12, and her mother and boyfriend, NBA player Ryan, of the New Orleans Pelicans, stayed with her until her death, caused by “critical loss of brain and organ function.”
Gia came to fame from appearing on the 14th season of The Bachelor, where she made Jake Pavelka‘s final three, eventually losing to Vienna Girardi.
Her best friend had previously tweeted that she was in a serious condition.
“@GiaAllemand is on life support w little pulse and barely breathing ..cause unknown ..next 48 hours critical please pray for Gia everyone,” tweeted beauty expert Melinda Farina. “I’m so sad about my best friend right now…how could this have happened to such an incredible person..she needs to come out of it!”

Gia Family Releases A Statement About Attempted Suicide
Gia’s family is devastated by her death, and they released the following statement shortly after her passing:
While in her residency in New Orleans on Monday night, Ms. Allemand was found by her boyfriend, NBA Basketball Player Ryan Anderson, following an apparent suicide attempt.
Mr. Anderson contacted 911 and emergency medical crews were immediately dispatched to the scene. Tuesday, Ms. Allemand remained in the hospital unconscious in critical condition and on life support.
Due to a critical loss of brain and organ function, life support was withdrawn today. Ms. Allemand passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other life-long friends by her side. As a practicing Christian, Gia did receive the sacrament of last rites.
Loved ones and fans will remember Gia Allemand as a caring woman who loved her family and was well-known for her compassion towards animals and mission to rescue homeless pets.
Funeral arrangements will be forthcoming in another official statement once available. On behalf of the family, we sincerely ask for privacy at this time.
Gia’s boyfriend, Ryan, also released his own statement:
“I’m deeply grateful for all the love and support we have received from family, friends and fans. Gia was the most beautiful person I knew inside and out and she always smiled and made everyone else around her smile. She had such an amazing impact on my life and anyone that knew her was blessed. All I have left is to cherish those memories we made together and help perpetuate the many values, faith and love that we shared.”
Jake Pavelka, who was the star of the show when Gia was on it, took to Twitter and wrote, “Please pray for @GiaAllemand… A dear friend and one of the sweetest women I know… #powerofprayer.”
