‘Breaking Dawn — Part 2’ was the big winner at the Teen Choice Awards on August 11, raking in SEVEN awards. So where the heck were all the cast members to collect those surfboards and thank the fans?
Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and the rest of the Twilight cast are apparently totally over the saga. Despite winning in seven categories at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards, none of the awards were given during the telecast of the ceremony — but that’s probably because the entire Twilight cast were no-shows!
‘Twilight’ Wins Big At Teen Choice Awards… Off-Camera
K-Stew brought in two awards — for Choice Actress in a Romance and for Choice Actress in a Sci-Fi/Fantasy — while Rob won for Choice Actor in a Romance. Co-stars Taylor Lautner and Kellan Lutz also received awards, and the movie itself raked in awards for Choice Romance and Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Notably though, Rob and Kristen did NOT win Choice Liplock.
But despite all that TCA success, not a single Twilight cast member was in attendance to represent the saga and accept the awards. All seven of them were given off the air, likely because the Teen Choice Awards producers knew that none of the movie’s stars would be there to accept.
‘Twilight’ Cast No-Shows The TCAs: Dissing The Fans?
The flat-out no-show by the Twilight cast is pretty shocking, and it’s basically a slap in the face to the fans.
The awesome thing about the Teen Choice Awards is that the fans vote for their favorite stars and movies. It’s the best way for fans to show their appreciation, and when they do they expect those stars to show up and express their gratitude.
Now that the Twilight saga is completely over, the cast is no longer obligated to go to these awards shows to represent the movies, but that doesn’t mean they should forget the fans. Rob and Kristen may have skipped the ceremony to avoid an awkward interaction, but that’s hardly an excuse for letting down the fans, and it definitely doesn’t explain why any other members of the cast didn’t show up (though to be fair, Kellan is busy filming Hercules 3D).
All those Twi-hards are what made the saga such a phenomenon! Without loyal fans voting like crazy — like they did for the 2013 TCAs — Twilight — and its stars — might not be what it is today. Even though it’s been almost a year since Breaking Dawn — Part 2 was released, Rob, Kristen and the rest of the cast can’t forget that.
