Plus, how does Ashton feel about Amber Tamblyn joining the cast? Read on for his full interview.
It’s been a busy two and a half months for Two And A Half Men. Not only was it officially confirmed that Angus T. Jones was being cut from the CBS sitcom’s opening credits, but it was also announced that Amber Tamblyn would be coming on board as Charlie’s (Charlie Sheen) long-lost lesbian daughter! Now, for the first time, Ashton Kutcher has spoken out about the madness.
Ashton, 35, appeared on Live With Kelly and Michael on Aug. 9 to promote his new Steve Jobs biopic, but of course, the conversation quickly turned to the controversy surrounding his show. Here’s what he had to say about Angus’ departure:
Angus has been on the show his entire childhood, and last year he was like, ‘Man, I really want to go to college and just be a normal kid.’ So I was like, Angus, please come back. Just do one more year and then go to college.’ So he came back last year, and this year he decided he really wanted to go to college, so this year he’s going to go off to college.
Sadly, there was no mention of Angus’ infamous YouTube rant against the show. As for whether or not we might see Angus again in some form, Ashton had this to say:
Well, he went off to the military last year, so he’s off fighting wars on behalf of the United States government. Maybe we can get him to Skype in or something. We’ll see.
Yeah, that doesn’t sound too promising.
Ashton Talks Amber Tamblyn
Looking forward, Ashton said he’s really excited about the energy Amber will bring to season 11.
“This show just keeps getting more fun to make,” he said. “Amber Tamblyn is joining the cast. Last year I think I was the half man, so I don’t know who’s going to be the half man this season. … I don’t know what they’re going to do with the title; I imagine they’re just going to keep it the same.”
