The mugshot has officially been released of the man who disturbingly posted a picture of his wife’s lifeless body to Facebook after he allegedly murdered her on Aug. 8.
Derek Medina, 31, allegedly shot and killed his wife Jennifer Alfonso, 26, in their Miami home, and then uploaded a picture to Facebook of her dead body covered in blood on the couple’s kitchen floor. Along with the horrifying photo, Derek wrote, “I’m going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife.” On August 9, the chilling mugshot of Derek was released to the public.

While the graphic photo sat on Facebook for about five hours, Derek drove to his father’s house and confessed to killing his wife. Then the pair drove to the police station together for Derek to turn himself in, and he was charged with first-degree murder. The Miami property supervisor’s mugshot was released the next day.

Derek claims that he and Jennifer got into an argument and she started punching him. While Derek went to get his gun, he claims Jennifer obtained a knife from a drawer. After he disarmed her, Derek told police that she continued to punch him, so he pulled the gun on her and shot her several times.
Derek then posted a disturbing photo of his wife’s lifeless body on Facebook and wrote:
I’m going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys takecare Facebook people you will see me in the news. My wife was punching me and I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse so I did what I did I hope u understand me.
Derek will make his first court appearance at the Miami-Dade courthouse at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 9 at a hearing.
