Beyonce’s colorist and hairstylist spoke EXCLUSIVELY to HollywoodLife.com about Queen B’s drastic new cut and has no doubt that Beyonce has the confidence to pull it off! Read our interview below!

Beyonce, 31, has set the beauty world on fire with the snip of a scissor! Her drastic pixie cut has everyone taking, and so we spoke with a hair stylist who is always by Beyonce’s side — Rita Hazan — to see what she thinks about the new change!

Beyonce’s Hair Stylist Rita Hazan — Speaks On Her New Cut & Color

Rita told HollywoodLife.com:

Beyonce’s new look is modern and old Hollywood at the same time, and makes such a statement.  We wanted the color to be soft and sexy so I chose to highlight her hair with champagne and summer blonde tones. By strategically highlighting her whole head in very tiny sections, we achieved the perfect look.

Rita colored her hair just before the cut and told us that she had no idea Beyonce was going for the big chop! Rita told me she showed up to see Bey, and she was shocked, but pleasantly surprised!

Rita, who has worked with Beyonce for about a year throughout her Mrs. Carter tour, and has also worked with Katy Perry and Jennifer Lopez, says Beyonce loves her new look!

“She seemed really ready for a change and she was confident to go drastic,” Rita tells us. It’s definitely a show-stopping cut!

How do you feel about Beyonce’s new cut and color, HollywoodLifers? Tell us below.

Beyoncé has always had long hair even as a child! She’s worn weave in her hair to protect it because when you’re in the line of work that she’s in your hair gets done constantly and speaking from a black woman’s perspective, putting a lot of heat on your hair is extremely dangerous. So for years she’s been wearing what is called “a protective style” a.k.a sew-ins, like many white women do also but claim they don’t. She even says that she wears weave to protect her hair. Personally I love Bey’s haircut not because she’s a celebrity but because dammit she’ll be 32 this year, she probably just wanted to look her age. A lot of people acting like she can’t put weave back in her hair which she’ll probably do when she starts the next leg of her tour. Besides, it’s hair, it’ll grow back!!!

Adding a contribution to this. Beyonce can do what she wants. She is not the first one doing that though. Halle Berry had pixie-cut, she still currently have her pixie-cut, Emma Watson have her pixie-cut, Sharon Stone used to have one and Rihanna had a pixie-cut. Women are women, Beyonce and other female celebrities don’t have to please any of you to have longer hair every year. Listen to India Arie: I Am Not My Hair. According to the lyrics:

“The way I wear my hair made me a better person, Is the way I wear my hair made me a better freedom, The way I wear my hair for my integrity”.

It’s not a crime that female celebrities have to have long hair every year. They don’t always have to be simple. Sometimes in life you make changes for a reason that’s what you have understand.

Why do I feel like this new do is a result of over-processed hair breaking off? And how much of her long hair was really her hair?

I agree, she did it because she hadn’t much of her own hair left. She had no choice. I live in Africa and women here are desperate to have long, straight hair, they use all sort of chemicals, that result in hair damage. Even the extensions are dangerous for one’s natural hair. Women who can’t afford these treatments/extensions just cut they hair short and wear wigs. If you want strong, beautiful, long hair you won’t dye it, won’t put extensions, won’t use chemicals. You’ll have to use oil masks, egg masks each week. Don’t think that 5 minutes of some expensive hair mask will do the work. It is messy and it takes time.
