‘Project Runway': Jesse Tyler Ferguson Previews The Bow-Tie Battle

Wed, August 7, 2013 12:00pm EDT by 1 Comment

In the latest ‘Project Runway’ preview, we see things escalate quickly with Sandro Masmanidi and the other contestants. But what’s got him all tied up in knots — so to speak? This week’s guest judge gives us a hint!

Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson is this week’s Project Runway guest judge, and he’s giving HollywoodLife.com the exclusive scoop about his episode, in which the contestants are given a variety of bow-ties and must create couture — in just one day! We’re dying to see who prevailed in the time-crunched task.

Along with being an actor, Jesse Tyler Ferguson is also a co-founder of Tie The Knot, a venture which seeks to “advocate for the civil rights of gay and lesbian Americans throughout the United States.” Naturally, JTF’s episode of Project Runway forces contestants to create their next piece out of his one-of-a-kind ties.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson Talks ‘Project Runway’ & Bow Ties:

“I am a huge fan of Kate [Pankoke],” Jesse tells us. “I think she will go really far this year.”

As for the advice he’d give to women trying to rock the bow-tie trend, JTF gives us some great advice:

One of the main criticisms with Tie The Knot when it first started was that a lot of women were eager to be a part of the cause and still be feminine. A lot of people were wearing them in their hair and I think it’s really sky’s the limit. They [women] really took a masculine piece of clothing and turned it into something very different. It really can be used in so many ways. You know, I saw someone tie them all together in a belt—fashion is meant to be pushed and it’s so inspiring.

And although the Modern Family star admits it’s hard to choose his favorite bow-tie, one specific style does come to mind.

“The Venice,” he tells us. “It’s a tortoise-and-hare, and it’s really beautiful. It’s definitely my favorite.”

We’re SO excited to see what’s in store for this week’s Project Runaway! Tell us what you think of the preview below, and don’t forget to catch the episode, Aug. 8 at 9 p.m. on Lifetime!

My greatest disappointment with this week’s episode is that the producers devoted so much time and attention to Sandro’s antics. The show has always featured talented designers and a peek at how they do what they do. There’s plenty of hysteria and bad behavior elsewhere. Please don’t pollute Project Runway.
