Now in a revealing new interview, Katy gives a detailed account of her crumbling friendship with K-Stew, and what she did to try to save it. It must have been devastating for Kristen Stewart to see one of her best friends, Katy Perry, support Robert Pattinson after their rough split in May. But on the other hand, it must have also been difficult for Katy to lose a good friend after being construed as a homewrecker and a boyfriend-stealer in countless rumors.

Katy Perry: How She Tried To End Her ‘Feud’ With Kristen Stewart

Katy recently tried to explain her side of the story in a new interview with ELLE UK. Not only does she insist that nothing romantic ever happened between her and Rob, she also says she reached out to Kristen to try to clear the air.

With report after report being released alleging that Katy and Rob had taken their relationship to the next level after his breakup with K-Stew, Katy tried to get in contact with the Twilight actress. “I sent her a text message saying: ‘I know you’ve seen all this stuff, but you know I would never disrespect you. I’m not that person,'” Katy revealed to ELLE UK.

She continued: “I’m just trying to be a friend to him, but it is unfortunate that I do have a set of tits.” Katy doesn’t say whether or not Kristen responded to her.

There’s no doubt that Katy was caught in a difficult spot. She was friends with both K-Stew and Rob, but in a breakup you can never take both sides. And after siding with Rob because she knew he didn’t have as many friends in LA to lean on — as HollywoodLife.com reported exclusively before — people made the quick, unfair assumption that there was something romantic going on.

But Katy’s intimate interview, and the way she maturely and compassionately reached out to Kristen, suggests that that isn’t the case. She may have just been a good friend who got caught in a no-win situation.
