‘Pretty Little Liars’ is known for its epic song selections and Mikey Wax’s featured song ‘In Case I Go Again’ on this week’s episode was no exception.
We all wondered who the singer was behind the song playing when Zoe (Rumer Willis) told Emily (Shay Mitchell) she’d write her a recommendation letter on the the July 30 episode of Pretty Little Liars. Well, wonder no more! It’s none other than 27-year-old Mikey Wax, crooner of “In Case I Go Again.” The singer-songwriter spoke to HollywoodLife.com in an exclusive Q&A about his Pretty Little Liars moment, his Dancing With the Stars request, and what his music tastes like.

What was your initial reaction when you found out your song was going to be on an episode of PLL?
It came out of nowhere, so at first, I had to double check it was a real e-mail! Once I found out that it was, I was pretty excited and thrilled that the show was going to feature my music.
Were you told what the scene is? Like, what’s happening while your song is playing?
No, the way TV placements work a lot of the time is that shows will license your song and then they can use it where and when as they please. I’m hopeful it will get a good placement in the show and bring out the most in the scene it’s being used in.
If you could have your music on any other show, which one would it be?
When I was a kid, I used to only want to be a composer for movies and TV. I wrote a lot of instrumental music and I think that cinematic quality has always stayed with me even as I’ve gotten more into pop. I hope my music could work in a lot of different scenarios. I think it would be pretty cool to have a song danced to in a show like Dancing With the Stars or So You Think You Can Dance. My song “Counting On You” was actually featured weekly on So You Think You Can Dance last season as the elimination montage song, which was really cool!
Who are some artists you look up to?
I grew up listening to a lot of classic rock and singer/songwriters from the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, to James Taylor and Billy Joel. I think modern day artists whose career Id like to emulate are guys like Gavin Degraw, Jason Mraz and John Mayer.
What would you say your music tastes like?
Like sweet potato fries, and I don’t know why.
6. What’s next for you, musically?
I just finished recording 14 new songs in Nashville with two amazing producers/brothers, Ed Cash and Scott Cash. There is no set release date yet, but you can follow me on twitter (@MikeyWax) or sign up on my email list (mikeywax.com) for updates!
