The ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ stars were reportedly ordered to surrender their passports and have been restricted to New York and New Jersey, after facing a judge in their shocking fraud case on July 30.
Teresa and Joe Giudice reportedly surrendered themselves to federal authorities inside the United States District Court in Newark, New Jersey, on July 30. The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars were charged in a 39-count indictment with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, making false statements on loan applications and bankruptcy fraud. They were reportedly released on $500,000 unsecured bail bonds, but they face more than 50 years in prison if convicted.

The Giudices were allegedly ordered to surrender their passports and they’re not allowed to leave New York or New Jersey until their next hearing, which is scheduled for Aug. 14. Joe, who is not a U.S. citizen, is reportedly subject to drug testing, Us Weekly reports.
Teresa, 41, and Joe “were very solemn” during the hearing. There were “no tears” and “they were very professional,” the source says.
Joe & Teresa Giudice: Tax Evasion & Bank Fraud Charges
They allegedly obtained multiple mortgages — illegally — and other loans from multiple banks by purposely overestimating their incomes, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman said. The couple also allegedly withheld vital information about their net worth from a U.S. bankruptcy trustee after filing for Chapter 7, including Teresa’s true income from starring on RHONJ.
Additionally, Joe is accused of failing to file income tax returns for the years 2004-2008, during which he allegedly earned $1 million, TMZ reports.
Teresa Giudice Releases Statement
“Today is a most difficult day for our family. I support Joe and, as a wonderful husband and father, I know he wants only the best for our lovely daughters and me. I am committed to my family and intend to maintain our lives in the best way possible, which includes continuing my career. As a result, I am hopeful that we will resolve this matter with the government as quickly as possible,” Teresa told Us Weekly in a statement on July 29.
Teresa and Joe are parents to daughters Gia, 12, Gabriella, 10, Milania, 7, and Audriana, 3.
