Frank Castillo Dead At 44 Years Old
Frank, 44, was found by a diving team in the Maricopa County lake late on July 29, reports The Washington Post. He had gone swimming, but he is known to be a poor swimmer. When he did not surface, a 911 call was placed, and the search began, and it ended when Franks body was recovered.
Over his 13 year long major-league career, Frank played for the Cubs, Colorado Rockies, Detroit Tigers, Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox and Miami Marlins. He last pitched in the majors in the 2005 season.
The Red Sox held a moment of silence for Castillo before the July 29 game against Tampa Bay.
Frank leaves behind an ex-wife and two daughters.
His family released a statement, saying he was “a wonderful son, terrific brother, and an extraordinary father to his two beautiful girls. Everyone who knew Frank loved Frank. We are devastated by this loss. It is impossible to express in words the level of sadness we feel due to this tragedy. All of those who counted Frank as a personal friend, and to all those wonderful fans who cheered for him during his major league career, we genuinely appreciate your prayers and kind words during this extremely difficult time.”
Frank’s friends and families are in our thoughts and prayers.
