I’m telling my story and I hope others can relate to it.”

HollywoodLife’s EXCLUSIVE interview with Chanel West Coast
This may come to many as a surprise to some of your fans with the new album but this is something you have wanted to do for quite awhile, could you tell us the process of how you got this whole thing off the ground?
CWC – “Well I have been rapping since I have been 14 years old, when I was 15 I recorded my first song at Marvin Gaye’s house, which is a whole different story in itself. But basically I have been pursuing music for a long time and I never really thought I would be on reality TV and never wanted to be on reality TV but I come from no money, and when I was offered to be on Fantasy Factory, I wanted to do it, why not! And obviously Ridiculousness, and I have been in reality the last few years and though that came with a spotlight and provided me with a lot of connections and cool people to be in contact with in the industry, it also made it harder to be taken seriously! I just had to keep making music and prove with my music and artists. And then when Lil Wayne signed me, people started taking me more seriously! You know, I am a good artist and I am good at what I do, so that is how things happened.”
Who were some artists you looked up to in the rap game growing up that wanted to make you a rapper?
CWC – “The definite #1 rapper that inspired me was 2Pac! Stye icons like Gwen Stefani, No Doubt was the first CD I ever bought! I look to 2Pac more as a poet rather then an artist, I love poetry and seeing him do it made me want to do it. He is amazing!”
Would you want to have 2Pac on a future track of yours? Maybe from a verse that was unreleased?
CWC – “Oh, my god that would be amazing! I would probably pass out that would be so awesome!”
When did you realize that you were legitimate in the rap game? You are working with some amazing people!
CWC – “I was chilling with Chris Brown and Ciara and Ciara was impressed, and Chris told her that I was dope! He was telling her that I rap and sing! Hearing someone that is so talented like Chris Brown say nice things like that made me think that I was more legit! Hearing that gave me a major boost in confidence. Then recording at the Hit Factory with Lil Wayne really made things as real.”
When will you record more music?
CWC – “I want to start work on my album, I am so excited to put out something even better. So very soon.”
