So sad. A 4-month-old baby boy was pronounced dead after his parents left him in the car overnight in San Diego, California. The couple has been charged on one count of willful cruelty to a child resulting in injury or death.

Jessica Quezada, 23, and Israel Soto, 30, have been arrested as a result of their 4-month-old son’s death. The two left their son in a hot car overnight outside of their California apartment complex.

Four-Month-Old Found Dead In Car

El Cajon city police arrested Jessica and Israel on July 27 after a family found the baby sitting in the car, unresponsive, in the apartment complex parking lot.

“We [saw] the baby in the car and after that we started to panic and then when we looked at the door, we [saw] the father run out and got the baby and then run into the house,” said Jeremiah Jackson, 12, who witnessed the scene while playing outside, reports ABC 10 News.

The police were called around 1:30 p.m. on July 27, and upon their arrival to the scene, they reported that the baby was not breathing.

The 4-month-old baby was later pronounced dead at the hospital, which El Cajon Police Department spokeswoman, Monica Zech, said was “definitely” a case of heat stroke.

“That poor child [was] just cooking, basically cooking in that car,” she said.

Israel Soto ‘So Frightened’ After Leaving Baby In Car Overnight

When Israel realized what happened, Jeremiah said he seemed to be in disbelief of the deadly mistake he and Jessica had made.

“The father was so frightened,” he said. “He was putting his hands on his head, praying on the ground for the baby to be still alive,” ABC 10 News reports.

Although Israel’s reaction to his baby’s death seems that leaving the baby in the car was an accident, police believed otherwise. Both parents have been booked into the county jail on suspicion of intentionally killing their baby.

Jessica also faces a charge of alleged possession of a controlled substance.

In addition to their arrest, Child Protective Services took their three other children, ages 1, 2 and 3, into protective custody.

Do you think Jessica and Israel could have actually left their youngest child in the car on accident, HollyMoms? What do you think of their punishment?
