Eliot is on his way to getting his political career back on track after his prostitution scandal in 2008, but his marriage might not be on such great terms.

Has Eliot Spitzer’s quest to regain his political clout and become New York City’s comptroller put his family life in jeopardy? A new report claims that his wife, Silda Spitzer, plans on divorcing him after his upcoming election in November.

Silda Spitzer: Planning On Divorcing Eliot After Election?

Silda, 55, has reportedly been telling friends that she “has had enough” with Eliot and plans to end the marriage when his campaign ends, according to Page Six. “Silda is telling her female friends that she is done with him,” a source says. “She will file for divorce after the [Nov. 5] election.”

“Silda is saying she is going to wait until this is all over. She has been telling friends, ‘This is too hard. This is too rough,'” another source tells the New York Post.

Eliot & Silda Spitzer: Has Trouble Been Brewing?

Marital discord in the Spitzer household began to rear its head in May, when another report revealed that Eliot had moved out of the family house — at 985 Fifth Ave. in NYC — and was living 20 blocks away at 800 Fifth Ave.

And on July 25, Eliot revealed that his wife would not be joining him on the campaign trail:

I think it’s fair to say I’m running for office. No other member of my family is running for office. And I think the public is going to judge me, not who else is with me or not with me. She’s got a career. There are other things I think the public appreciates — I’m out here fighting every day for them.

When asked about the divorce rumors, Eliot’s spokeswoman told Page Six, “Eliot is running for comptroller on his record and the issues. We will not comment on the absurd barrage of stories about his personal life.” has also reached out for comment.

Silda has always been an extremely private person, and never even commented on her husband’s 2008 prostitution scandal, but sources do claim that she is unhappy that Eliot decided to reenter into politics and step back into the spotlight.
