Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson had to be lifted off New York City’s Citi Field on a stretcher on July 24, when he suffered a leg injury that’s almost too gruesome to watch.
Tim Hudson Breaks Ankle — Braves Player Suffers Gruesome Injury
Tim, 38, ran to cover first base during a routine play. While the Braves pitcher caught the ball and hit the base with plenty of time to spare, New York Mets left fielder Eric Young Jr. stepped on Tim’s right ankle while running out the play. Tim, who appeared to be in excruciating pain, immediately fell to the ground and remained there until he was carted off the field.
“I knew I didn’t get any of the base. I got all of his foot. I pretty much knew it was broke right when I did it. That’s why I ran back to him and tried to console him as much as I could and to apologize,” a somber Eric told The Associated Press.
Tim Hudson’s Prognosis
Tim reportedly had X-rays done at Citi Field, and the Braves say he will undergo surgery in Atlanta once the swelling goes down. It’s unclear how long Tim will be out or whether he’ll be able to pitch again this season.
On a positive note, the Braves ended up winning 8-2, but it’s safe to say there was little celebrating after the game.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Is this the most gruesome sports injury you’ve ever seen?
