After nine months of anticipation, it’s almost time for the royal baby to come into the world! Kate Middleton officially checked into St. Mary’s Hospital on July 22.
Kate Middleton and Prince William are about ready to meet their first child as Kate went into labor in the early hours of July 22 and checked into St. Mary’s Hospital. The world doesn’t have to wait much longer to find out what they’re having!
Kate Middleton Going Into Labor
She will be giving birth in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital, which is the same wing that Princess Diana gave birth to both William and Prince Harry! As planned, The Royal Household official Surgeon-gynecologist Dr. Alan Farthing and the Queen’s Surgeon-Gynecologist Dr. Marcus Setchell are prepared to deliver the baby along with their team of nurses.
An iPad and laptop were delivered to the hospital, undoubtedly to keep Kate and Will busy and entertained as they anxiously await their newest arrival, according to Us Weekly.
Kate Middleton In Labor — Official Palace Press Release
Clarence House tweeted the first official statement on July 22, stating:
Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted this morning to St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London in the early stages of labour. The Duchess traveled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge.
Once the baby is delivered, the tradition will continue with a wood and gold easel — the same easel used to announce the birth of William in 1982 — placed just behind the gates of Buckingham Palace to announce the baby’s delivery. The birth bulletin will include the baby’s gender, weight and time of birth, with the name being announced at a separate time.
The first person outside of the delivery room to get word of the baby’s arrival will be Queen Elizabeth II. Will is going to have to call his grandmother with the news first. A whole chain of command will learn of birth, including the Prime Minister who will verify the birth, reports CNN.
Although the gender of the royal baby has been kept under wraps, a source told Us Weekly that Kate and William “will pose with the baby for pictures” upon leaving the hospital. It sounds like we won’t have to wait long to actually see him or her!
Kate Middleton And Prince William Ready To Be Parents
Kate has done a great job in her role as Duchess of Cambridge, and now she and William are ready to take on the role of royal mommy and daddy. Mike Tindall, William’s cousin, told the Daily Mirror that Kate is “a natural mother,” and we know that has to be true with the way she has interacted with her fans around the world.
He also said the entire royal family is just as excited for the baby as Kate and William. “The whole family is really excited about the baby,” he said. “I think everyone’s excited. I’m so happy for those two. They’ll be great parents.”
Kate has said she’s nervous about giving birth, but also said ‘it would be unnatural if I wasn’t. It’s just human, isn’t it?'” We think she’s completely entitled to be nervous, but we’re sure she’s now more excited than anything!
