Matt Osborne, aka Doink The Clown: Cause Of Death Revealed
Doink, who was born Matt Osborne, died from an accidental toxic overdose of morphine and hydrocodone, according to the autopsy obtained by TMZ.
The report, conducted by a medical examiner for Collin County, Texas reportedly discovered “high levels of the opiates morphine and hydrocodone” in Matt’s system at the time of his death.
“I am of the opinion that [Osborne], a 55-year-old white man, died as a result of toxic effects of opiates,” the medical examiner stated. Hydrocodone is the key ingredient in the prescribed painkiller Vicodin.
The medical examiner also stated that Matt suffered from heart disease, which ended up being “a significant and contributory factor” in his death.
Matt, or rather Doink the Clown, is one of the most memorable figures in pro wrestling. Covered in paint, Doink came to fame in the 90s, best known for playing pranks on his opponents and even fans. He brought a slapstick joy to the sport and revolutionized its oddball humor, which is obviously still present today.
News about his death, and the cause of it, is just awful. Matt’s body was riddled with scars on his forehead, arms, and legs, according to TMZ. It’s tragic to think he may have simply been trying to ease his pain from his past injuries, and fatally overdid it.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends in this unbelievably difficult time.
