Kate is already a major role model for new and expecting mothers around the world, so she is facing serious added pressures to motherhood. Do YOU think she will breastfeed her baby?

The decision of whether or not to breastfeed a baby ultimately lies with the mother, but for moms in the public eye like Kate Middleton, there is more in the equation than considering the mother-child bond or personal health decisions. She will be setting the tone for parenting trends, as all eyes will be on Kate as she makes choices, and parents everywhere will use her as an example.

Kate Middleton: Pressured To Breastfeed Royal Baby

Rates of women breastfeeding in England are rapidly falling for the first time in years, according to The Telegraph. Kate has a lot of power to sway public opinion on breastfeeding in her home country and around the world– whether she wants to or not. Many moms worldwide are hoping that Kate will make the decision to breastfeed and take that personal decision public. Calling for Kate to lead by example and encourage women to breastfeed their newborns, a controversial opinion piece for The Telegraph says:

We … need women with power and influence to get their milky bosoms out and feed smiling in paparazzi pictures. Celebrity is depressingly powerful in dictating trends. As if there wasn’t enough pressure on her already, what we really need is The Duchess of Cambridge to get her Royal orbs out to feed our future monarch. And to be applauded – not seethed at – for doing so.

Kate Middleton: Setting The Tone For Parenting Trends

Many moms and breastfeeding advocates are hoping that Kate takes a traditional approach to breastfeeding and, in turn, make it a more desirable practice amongst new mothers who look to her for example. “We’re … rapidly losing any sense of normality about breastfeeding due to powerful cultural forces. Young mums are especially unlikely to breastfeed: it’s not cool; it’s not sexy and their boyfriends won’t like it,” says The Telegraph‘s piece.

Kate could change all that by blending her usual hip, modern outlook with tradition.

What do YOU think, HollyMoms? Is Kate facing too much pressure on this personal decision?

I breast fed both of my children…my daughter for 6 months and my son for over a year. I think it allows you the time and opportunity to form a very special bond with your children…it’s something no one else can do for them. I also think it’s much healthier for them and for the mother also. I can tell you I was back to my pre-pregnant weight by my 6 week check up…what a perk!!!!! However, I do NOT believe it is right to pressure anyone to do so.

I would hope she would choose to breastfeed, however I feel for her as the pressure is really put on her for this decision. Whatever she chooses I hope that she makes the decision that works best for her and not to please the ones who look up to her.

It is still Noble instument else’s decision OR business! It is between her, her doctor, and her husband.Give them a break and some privacy! I still display not think it is good protical to bteasrfeed in. Pblic. Not that there is anything wrong with it, but it isa prvate matter and should remain display. That is why beginning have cry rooms n churches. IF Kate herself chooses later to
Disclose her preferance thatis up to her, but too many old or young galkers are more interested in someome dsclosng her private anatomy than how the royal baby will. really get fed .Let the doctors ry aout mom and. Baby tendencies in England and elsewhwere! Or talk shows orsomething. Have Noble doubt the baby will be well carred for and that they will be. Good parents!
