Selena will be releasing her latest album, ‘Stars Dance,’ on July 23, just one day after her 21st birthday! The full album has been leaked one week early and, after hearing all 14 tracks, it’s clear to me that Selena is all grown up!
After her Disney days came to an end, Selena Gomez‘s music career took off with catchy tunes that had harmless, cutesy lyrics. She will release her newest album, Stars Dance, on July 23, and the songs on this album definitely prove Sels has moved on from her Disney days — but in a great way!
Selena Gomez’s ‘Stars Dance’ Review — New Album Reveals Racier, More Grown-Up Sound
Selena released her first single from Stars Dance, “Come & Get It,” back in April, and the track was more than just catchy — it was pretty sexy too! I thought it might be the raciest song on the album, but it turns out that was just the beginning!
Selena’s second single, “Slow Down,” is also pretty suggestive, with lyrics like, “You know I’m good with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation/Breathe me in breathe me out so amazing.” As provocative as those lyrics might be, I think “Slow Down” is one of the catchiest songs on the record — and one of my personal favorites!
Perhaps the raciest song on Stars Dance is “Undercover,” where Selena talks about a “sexy machine” that she wants all to herself. She definitely wasn’t hiding her risqué thoughts in this one!
“I wanna find a place where we can be alone in the dark (oooooh)
And you can navigate me like a map that you know by heart”
I didn’t know Selena had such a sexy side, but I love it! I think it really shows the direction she wants to go with her music, and I also think it will allow her to expand her fan base. The majority of the songs on Stars Dance have great, club-worthy dance beats, especially “Nobody Does It Like You,” “Music Feels Better” — my favorite — and “B.E.A.T.”
Selena Gomez’s ‘Stars Dance’ Love Songs — Are They About Justin Bieber?
Although the majority of the songs on Stars Dance are upbeat and sexy, there are still some love songs, which definitely sound like they are directed to a certain someone. Could it be Justin Bieber? I certainly think so!
The two lovebirds reunited on the Fourth of July, and Stars Dance suggests that Selena has wanted to get back together with Justin all along!
There are a few songs with very telling lyrics that seemed to be about Justin. One of these, “Love Will Remember,” includes the lyrics, “You said you loved me/I said I loved you back/What happened to that?” If these lyrics aren’t obvious enough, the song includes part of a voicemail that Justin left Selena!
“Sad Serenade” is also rumored to be about Justin, which I don’t doubt, as she sings on the track, “I wish you the best, I really do/Even though I know that I’m still not over you.” She straight-up admits she’s not over someone — and who else could it be?!
Whether Selena is singing about Justin on Stars Dance or not, I’m quite impressed with the new Selena. Her album has some extremely catchy, dancey songs, and it also shows a much sexier side of the Disney princess we’ve all known and loved for years.
