Prince William will become a first-time father any day now, and it looks like he may have spent the July 4th holiday leading up to the royal baby’s birth with his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth! Was he getting parenting advice?
Prince William, 31, reportedly made the trip from his temporary home at Kensington Palace to Sandringham Castle in Norfolk, England to pay his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, 87, a visit on July 4. Will packed a suitcase and a neatly pressed suit for the occasion, visiting the Queen for the final time before the birth of his first child, the heir to the royal throne.
Prince William Meets With Queen Elizabeth Before Royal Baby’s Arrival
Before the July 13 due date of his firstborn, the Duke of Cambridge had a private meeting with his grandmother. Perhaps the two were discussing the soon-to-be child’s official royal title, as a rep for Kensington Palace announced the official title just days later on July 8. In the statement, the rep confirmed, “The royal couple’s child will officially be known as His or Her Royal Highness Prince or Princesses of Cambridge.”
Prince William could also have been discussing the impending newborn’s name with his grandmother. The couple have reportedly not chosen a name yet, and while the new family will officially announce their baby’s gender, weight and time of birth right after the child is delivered on an easel at the gates of Buckingham Palace, just like Prince William’s was, the name may not be released right away.
Queen Elizabeth’s Official Decree
News of the royal baby’s official title comes months after Queen Elizabeth’s Dec. 2012 decree, which announced that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first child will be a prince or a princess, as opposed to only the male receiving the royal title.
