While millions of people across the United States celebrated the striking down of the Defense of Marriage Act, the Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy only had hurtful things to say.

Dan Cathy, president of chicken restaurant chain Chick-fil-A, is not happy with the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down a key provision of the Defense of Marriage Act. While millions of people rejoiced on June 26, Dan tweeted that it was a “sad day for our nation,” and then quickly deleted the tweet. Is he totally out of line?

Chick-fil-A On DOMA Ruling — Dan Cathy’s Tweet Of Disgust

Dan tweeted: “Sad day for our nation; founding fathers would be ashamed of our gen. to abandon wisdom of the ages re: cornerstone of strong societies.”

That is such a ridiculous statement. June 26 was a revolutionary day for most Americans, who were overjoyed that same sex marriage has finally been made legal, and that same-sex couples can finally receive federal benefits.

Chick-fil-A were quick to point out that Dan’s views did not represent the views of the restaurant.

“He realized his views didn’t necessarily represent the views of all customers, restaurant owners and employees and didn’t want to distract them from providing a great restaurant experience,” said Chick-fil-A.

Celebrities React To DOMA Repeal

While Dan may have had a bee in his bonnet over the end of DOMA, many celebrities tweeted to share their excitement.

President Obama: “Today’s DOMA ruling is a historic step forward for #MarriageEquality. #LoveIsLove”

Alicia Keys: “I am standing on the right side of history. I stand with @HRC for marriage equality. #SCOTUS #time4marriage

I hope Dan Cathy chokes on a chicken bone, and the only person around is gay, and refuses to help him.

I don’t and won’t ever be eating this rather distasteful anyway. Two can play that game my friend. Ask Paula Deen how it feels when the reaction begins hitting your bottom line.
Like the despicable Ari Fleischer said during the oppressive “bush/cheney cabal” years, “watch what you say”.

The Facebook group Activists for Christ have launched “Christian Business Appreciation Day” to be held on August 1, 2013. This will commemorate the anniversary of last year’s very successful Support Chick-fil-A Day.

We ask that, at a minimum, you eat at least once at Chick-fil-A and also shop at Hobby Lobby on this date, since they have been national flagship businesses unafraid to publicly display and openly support their Christian beliefs. We also ask that you encourage other businesses owned and operated by Christians to publicize themselves as followers of Christ and to participate in this event.

Please take ownership of this event, let’s support our brothers and sisters in Christ, and please help make this event go viral!!

Search for “Activists for Christ” on Facebook!!

Wow…you must feel awfully lonely here. I guess it takes more balls than brains to post your support for bigotry on a story about the bigots losing.

People lacking impulse control should not have Twitter accounts — all too often, they have second thoughts about their knee-jerk online comments and need to follow up with an apology:
“Forgive me Lord, for I know not what I tweet.”

I’m glad to see that we’re heading in the right direction toward equality, but what about Bisexuals? It is LGBT, Not just LGT. When are we going to allow Bisexuals to marry both a man and a woman? Why should they only be allowed to be half of who they are?

he certainly is entitled to his opinion, ignorant as it may be. i’m not sure what he means by “cornerstone of strong societies”. by this reasoning, we were also going to hell for giving women rights that the founding fathers didn’t. so, he can have his opinion, and i can have mine- that he’s a bigoted idiot stuck in the past, and when they are adults, it’s likely his grandchildren will be ashamed of his words, just like the grandkids of racists were/are.

He is entitled to have his own option, just because not everyone agrees with his option doesn’t mean he isn’t allowed to voice it. It’s not like his opinion is surprising anyway, Chickfila is a Christian company that’s why it’s closed on Sundays. I know the majority of Christians are taught that gay people are wrong. Whether you agree with what he says or not doesn’t matter, it’s America and its his right to say what he wants.

Why isn’t he entitled to his own opinion? Isn’t that what a democracy is about? He is entitled to agree and tolerance, just like everyone else…

I meant, he is entitled to agree OR disagree…this doesn’t make him a bad person. Just someone who is willing to state what he believes as an individual. Nothing wrong with that.
