Hollywood lost a family man on June 19. ‘Sopranos’ actor James Gandolfini unexpectedly passed away from an alleged heart attack while on a boys’ trip to Italy with his son, and he leaves behind the legacy of a loving family man.
Although James Gandolfini played a mob boss on The Sopranos, he was known for treating everyone with respect, and was loved greatly by everyone he knew. The family man, who was vacationing with his son when he passed away, will be remembered for more than just the roles he played as an actor.
James Gandolfini: ‘Such A Great Dad!’
One of the first people to pay public tribute to James was his friend and fellow actor Gilles Marini. Gilles wrote on his Facebook page:
I am heartbroken. My bud James Gandolfini just died. Last Saturday he told me at our kids graduation ghat he was so happy to go with his son to Italy. A boy trip! It was an honor to have met this man, such a great Dad!
In a 2009 interview with Vanity Fair, James mentioned how much he loves children, and he has two children himself. His 13-year-old son, Michael, from his first marriage to Marcy Wudarski, was on a “boy trip” in Italy with James when he passed. He also had and an 8-month-old daughter, Liliana Ruth, with his second wife, Deborah Lin.
Several tributes were made immediately following the announcement of James’ death, including a comment from HBO, stating he was a “special man, a great talent, but more importantly a gentle and loving person who treated everyone, no matter their title or position, with equal respect,” The Daily Mail reported.
James’ sudden death is so sad, especially since he left behind two young children. Our hearts and thoughts go out to his family at this difficult time.
