Whether she meant to say it or not, Sherri hinted that Elisabeth might be following Barbara Walters & Joy Behar on their way out.
Is it just us, or is The View starting to look more like The Hunger Games these days? On the heels of Joy Behar and Barbara Walters announcing their departures from the long-running ABC talk show, it sounds like Elisabeth Hasselbeck might also be flying the coop! During a June 17 appearance on The Wendy Williams Show, Sherri Shepherd hinted that only she and Whoopi Goldberg would be returning to the show next season — but is that really what she meant?
“So many changes, I can’t believe it!” Sherri told Wendy Williams. “The two black women are left; usually, they kill us off in the beginning.”
Ever the super-sleuth, Wendy came back with a hard-hitting question: “If the two black women are left, then you’ve just confirmed Hasselbeck is out?”
Sherri quickly bit her tongue, explaining that’s not exactly what she meant:
No, I didn’t confirm anything. No, I didn’t. I didn’t. We’re still there, but we’re talking about Joy. Joy is leaving, and I’m just so sad. Every day, I want to cry! [Elisabeth's] going to be there. We’re all going to be there next season. I joke about Whoopi and I because, first of all, because we have to thank Barbara Walters; you never see two African-American women on a major talk show.
Wendy asked, hypothetically, if either Brooke Shields or Jenny McCarthy could fill the vacant seats at The View‘s table, and Sherri seemed very open to the idea! However, she said she’d really like to see a Latina at the table, which prompted Wendy to suggest the iconic Rosie Perez.
