The stars came out on the black carpet for the ‘Man of Steel’ premiere June 10 at Lincoln Center. HollywoodLife.com got to talk EXCLUSIVELY to some of the film’s biggest stars –including Superman himself!
There was no shortage of super-hero star power at the black-carpet premiere of Man of Steel on June 10. The highly-anticipated film is sure to be one of the summer’s biggest blockbusters, and the stars playing those iconic characters — including Kevin Costner and Henry Cavill — talked to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY about the film!
Henry Cavill On The Weight Of The Role Of Superman
When Henry, who is best known for his role as the sexy Charles Brandon on The Tudors, was named as the newest Clark Kent/Superman, we knew we’d found our next super-hero hunk. At the premiere, Henry spoke with us about tackling the role of such an iconic character:
It’s an honor and very, very humbling, but I didn’t allow any kind of external pressure to weigh on me when I was researching the role and acting. I just tried to do the best job I could possibly do and do justice to the character.
With the Christopher Reeves version of the role dubbed a classic and 2005’s decent Superman Returns, it could have been difficult to create a fresh spark in the franchise. However, Henry said this film presents a different kind of journey than the previous films.
What sets this [film] aside, though in hindsight, is that it’s very much based in reality. So, in a real-world setting, we get to have a different kind of emotional journey while watching the movie.
Kevin Costner On The Film’s ‘Epic’ Proportions
With a long and esteemed career, Kevin has seen and starred in his share of classic films. Kevin talked to us bout how this particular film sets itself apart.
Every time you make a film you hope that it separates itself. Every time you make a film, you hope that it’s a classic and that it endures. And in this instance, it was epic and sometimes epic can overshadow the smallest details that want to seep into a film and, in a sense, make a classic and I think that we’ve maybe have made one. A big epic that’s classic.
Cooper Timberline Is The Cutest Kid You Haven’t Met Yet
Superman was a kid once, right? Cooper Timberline plays 9-year-old Clark Kent, and he was the most adorable little Superman yet as he walked the carpet with a Superman hat and tie. He revealed to us EXCLUSIVELY about when he first found out he’d won the role as little Clark Kent:
My mom picked me up from school and she drove into this alley and she picked up this bag, with tears in her eyes, and showed me an old Superman comic, and she gave it to me and then I opened it up and I was like, ‘Did I get the part?’ and she was like, ‘Yeah!’
