Did you ever expect this to happen to a ‘Vampire Diaries’ actress? On June 7, Shannon was arrested for sending letters containing poison to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and President Barack Obama. Talk about a twist-ending!
When Shannon Richardson was charged and arrested on June 7 as the person who sent ricin-laced letters to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and President Obama, we said to ourselves, “Boy, she looks familiar.” Turns we had seen her before — on some of our favorite TV shows!
Shannon Richardson’s Acting Resume
Before becoming the person who tried to poison political leaders, Shannon, 35, had small parts on several prominent television shows. She even appeared alongside Nina Dobrev and company as a student in The Vampire Diaries!
Shannon’s IMDB page also credits her with a part as one of the zombies in The Walking Dead, a lawyer in Franklin & Bash, and again as a student in Sandra Bullock’s The Blind Side.
Judging by her roles, or rather the size of them, it’s safe to say Shannon was a struggling actress, unable to break out.
Shannon Richardson: From Actress To Ricin Letter Suspect
So apparently she went down a different road to get into the spotlight. Shannon first came to the attention of investigators when she called them reporting that she believed her husband had sent the May 20 ricin letters to Michael and Barack, and one other to the director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, according to Newsday.
Through rounds of questioning and analysis investigators determined that Shannon, who is a pregnant mother of five, actually mailed the letters herself.
She was arrested in Mount Pleasant, Tex. on June 7 and could face up to 10 years in prison if she’s convicted. Investigators believe marital strife led her to mail the letters in an attempt to frame her husband.
What an unbelievable story. Thankfully, none of Shannon’s targets were harmed by her letters.
So the next time you’re watching reruns of The Walking Dead or The Vampire Diaries keep an eye out — you might see an alleged criminal in the background.
