A suspect is said to be in custody following a shooting at the Santa Monica College. The school was put under lockdown.

A woman died and authorities were investigating whether two other killings in the city were connected. Another victim is currently undergoing surgery.

The gunman shot at least once inside the campus library around noon PST. Witnesses say there was a man holding several weapons and firing into cars and a bus near the college.

Three people were shot, and two of the victims are in critical condition and one is in serious condition, a spokeswoman for the UCLA Medical Center, Dale Tate  told CNN.

Bizarrely, President Barack Obama was just minutes away in Santa Monica for a fundraiser.
