Move over Beyonce! There’s a new Sasha Fierce in town — and on June 3, she gave us the hottest performances of the night.
Blake Shelton’s Country Team Inspires Shakira
With only six contestants left, each singer performed twice — one song they picked themselves and one picked by their coach.
Blake’s team started the night when he chose “When God Fearin’ Women Get the Blues” for Holly Tucker, which showed just how powerful and fun her voice can be. She later chose “My Wish,” which she sang for her dad.
Then came the The Swon Brothers, and we all realized just how country these boys are!
They performed their choice, “Wagon Wheels,” which was so fun it even made Shakira admit that country music inspires her! And just when we thought it couldn’t get more country, Blake made his choice — “Okie From Muskogee.”
It was perfect for two brothers who really are Okies from Muskogee, and the coaches all agreed that it brought out their personalities and talent. Blake looked like a proud father.
For 16-year-old Danielle Bradbery, he chose “Shake the Sugar Tree,” which showed a fun but delicate side of her. She later chose “A Little Bit Stronger,” which she sang for her sister. However, she struggled with such a strong song during rehearsal.
There was nothing to worry about, though! The judges were so shocked with the power she saved for the end — her last note blew everyone away.
Usher’s Michelle Chamuel Gets Shocking Surprise
Usher‘s team of one was all about Michelle Chamuel. He chose “Somewhere Only We Know” which Michelle started a little shaky but ended very strong, and all the coaches approved.
For her pick, Michelle wanted to show that she could fit in with today’s top 40, and chose “I Knew You Were Trouble” by Taylor Swift — and got a surprise visit from her during the rehearsal! It was seriously adorable, and Taylor was really impressed with how emotional Michelle was making her song.
“If Taylor Swift loved it, I knew America would, too,” coach Usher said. Well, he was right. It was one of the best we’ve seen from Michelle — the crowd went crazy and Usher couldn’t have been more proud.
Blake admitted he was actually “so freaking jealous!”
“Dude you got Taylor to come in there?!” Blake said to Usher. Carson Daly asked Usher how Michelle pulled off such an awesome performance after seeing Taylor.
“I guess we knew she was trouble when she walked in,” Usher answered, perfectly.
Adam Levine’s Team Goes From Country To Rock
Adam Levine is finally getting over his anger from last week’s eliminations and focusing on his last singer, Amber Carrington.
He chose “I Remember You,” by Skid Row, a band that she admitted she didn’t know at all. She put a country spin on a rock song, and it really worked! As a country singer it was really important that she did something a little different.
Then she chose to sing “Crazy” by Patsy Cline, putting on a romantic performance. She looked stunning, and Shakira put it perfectly calling the performance “dreamy.” Adam told her that she took a pure, traditional approach.
“Anyone that hears you sing that song will know that that represents the subtlety and simplicity of a beautiful voice without having to feel as though you need to do anything else other than sing,” he said. “That to me, is one of the most underrated and amazing things to find in a singer, and I’m so happy that I have it in you.”
Sasha Allen Wows Shakira (And Everyone Else) With Both Performances
Shakira may only have one artist left but she still has a huge chance — Sasha Allen is one of the best singers there!
Sasha chose “Ain’t No Way,” relating it back to the strong connection to her mother. It was absolutely one of the strongest of the night. Not many can take on Aretha Franklin and hit every note! Adam called it her best performance ever, and Usher said he didn’t have any criticisms.
Shakira was literally blown away by her voice and her stunning look.
Later, Sasha closed out the stage with Shakira’s pick, which may have been the best song choice ever: “Before He Cheats.”
Sasha came out in a red dress, which she ripped off after the beginning, revealing a sexy black two piece outfit and thigh-high leather boots. Her performance was powerful, emotional and all around mind-blowing.
Sasha was fierce (sorry Beyonce). Blake loved that she ripped her dress off, and said it was powerful. Then Usher just said “I liked it,” blushing a bit. He also referenced Bey, saying there obviously is more than one “Sasha Fierce.”
I totally agree. What do you think, HollywoodLifers — who was your favorite performer of the night?
