Jason Collins (born Jason Paul Collins in Los Angeles, California on December 2, 1978) is an American professional basketball center with the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He attended Stanford University, where he was an All-American in 2000–01 and appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated on March 15, 2000. He finished his college career ranked #1 in Stanford history for field goal percentage He came out as the first openly gay athlete who was an active player in one of the the four North American major sports leagues (hockey, football, basketball, and baseball).
