Did he accuse his wife of being sick with HPV, or human papilloma virus, a sexually transmitted disease? How did she acquire the disease? This marriage looks very bad.

Yes it is true Cervical cancer is an STD, so is penile cancer when caused by HPV. Men are silent carriers infecting unsuspecting women. That is why both sexes, while young and not yet HPV exposed, should be immunized early although still advisable to get the vaccine while in your 20’s as you may have been still lucky to have escaped exposure. (age 11-26 for females, 11-21 for men) To perpetuate the stigma of STD’s, burying your head in the sand and not discussing, is putting you and everyone else at risk. Most people end up having sex. Unless you are both virgins when you marry, you risk being infected. Man or woman. Smarten up. If a woman develops cervical cancer it is not a shameful disease, it is unfortunate. And thankfully, it is now preventable.

Michael Douglas is as gay as the part he portrayed in the TV movie about Liberace. Michael Douglas has probably given bj’s to most of Hollywood.

Really!!!! Guys don’t believe this, Medical Expert have disclaimed this. Yes you should get the vaccine but his story is so full of sh*t. He got throat cancer from years and years of hard booze and smoking. These are the 2 main reasons for throat cancer. Check the facts. This is a good example of not believing what you read….. Wonder what his wife feels like,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Talk about being full of himself. False information is DANGEROUS he should know better…

Gawd, I’m so glad you guys don’t believe this; I’m actually so relieved. Oral sex coming to a screeching halt?!? Worried there for a bit, to be honest! Who believes those crazy-a** biopsy reports anyway, right? Those hospital pathologists are kooks who don’t know anything.

This is not true. MD drank, smoked cigs and cigars and who knows what else he did in his swinging lifestyle.
If oral sex causes cancer then where are all the other victims? MD is sick old man who is running his young wife nuts. He should have calmed down long ago. He is becoming a joke.

Good For Michael for speaking out

Posted at 8:38 PM on June 2, 2013

Whilst it does seem like TMI, I agree that to speak out is to raise awareness. HPV is the virus that can lead to cervical cancer and I for one had no idea that it could also be a cause of throat cancer. I feel I just learnt something valuable that could help save lives and that is the best type of education….
If we ever want to stamp out the spread of these types of diseases then awareness is the best place to start.
We should be commending those people whose voices can reach a wide audience speak out and educate others through their own personal experiences….

Too Much Information? I actually think many may be thanking him for raising awareness. I guess having our heads in the sand might be “more comfortable” than discussing STD’s. There was a time, years ago, that Angelina’s decision to remove her breasts and have them reconstructed would not have been discussed. Amazing, huh? Well, I’m hoping we aren’t in the dark ages when it comes to ways of contacting HPV and what that could lead to. May be too late for many of us to avoid one of the consequences of HPV infected sex, but not teens if they get vaccinated. P.S. Google “dental dams during oral” and how to make your own.

@Shelly, I don’t think it’s TMI if it can open up discussions and maybe save a life.

All the more reason to get our children vaccinated against HPV!! Series of 3 over 6 months, beginning at age 11 or 12. It’s ridiculous to refuse this and put your innocent kids at future risk. You start at an early age so the body can build up immunity before possible later exposure to the virus. It’s not saying they will become sexually active at 12!!! Doing so at an early age is not handing out a license to go have sex! So what’s the problem?? I just don’t understand the conservative stubbornness that revolves around the words “children” and “sex”. You can start the series as an older teenager, also women up to age 26 and men up to 21, although the key is to receive before exposure. Previous sexual activity does not mean you’ve been exposed yet, so ck with your dr, public or private clinic. Insurance may cover but if no insurance, your child may qualify for free vaccine.

@Guest, He was with other women before he got with his wife. So maybe he’s just saying exactly what it is. He got it from going south on women and obviously one of them was his wife. Not to mean he specifically got it from her.

…although he may have unknowingly infected his wife. An initial infection can go completely unnoticed, with no symptoms. This virus can then sit in body for years. It is more common for some strains of HPV to cause cervical cancer, which is what most people think of when HPV and cancer are discussed. I’m glad he came out with this admission — hopefully will get discussion going on getting our children vaccinated. There is a chance for cancer of the vulva and penis, too. Younger generation very fortunate this vaccine was developed, but they are at the mercy of their parents to give permission. .

Women clean yourselves with Celtic salt and warm water twice a week to keep away bacteria before you end up killing your men. Lol
