Say it ain’t so! Comic fans were blindsided by the shocking ending of ‘Justice League Of America #4′ when a crucial member of Batman’s team bit the dust.

Two major characters in the Batman world have been killed off in the past year. But whereas Damian Wayne’s death was a well-publicized event, the other was not revealed beforehand, and comic fans were taken by surprise when they arrived at the final page of Justice League of America #4. Needless to say, it’s a sad, gut-wrenching day for Gotham-lovers.

Spoiler Alert: Catwoman Killed In ‘Justice League Of America #4′

In the final scene of Justice League of America #4Catwoman is viciously murdered! Her death is depicted in gross detail, as a bullet is shown going directly through her skull, blood-spatter and all.

As the comic closes, Catwoman lays motionless on the ground, her lifeless eyes wide open as the blood drips from her head.

The vicious murder was committed solely to get Batman’s attention, and we don’t think we’re going out on a limb by predicting that he will retaliate with horrific vengeance in the next installment of the series.

Catwoman: Is She Really Dead?

Fans are already debating whether or not Catwoman’s death is final. After all, there is such thing as a Lazarus Pit in the DC Comics, a restorative pit that can heal characters back from death’s door, so resurrection is not out of the question.

It has also been posited that it isn’t actually Selina Kyle in this final scene, rather someone disguised as Catwoman who has been killed in an unfortunate case of mistaken identity.

While this shocking turn of events is dividing fans of the comic, there’s no doubt that it’s injected some new life in the Justice League series. We can’t wait to see what happens next!
