After ‘Allure’ posted Zoe’s weight on the June 2013 cover with the line ‘115 Pounds of Grit and Heartache,’ a controversy erupted over the decision. Now Zoe is speaking out and standing behind the magazine.

Zoe Saldana, 34, posed nude in the June issue of Allure magazine and now the Star Trek Into Darkness star is standing by her decision to pose naked and behind the magazine’s controversial cover line revealing her weight. See what she said on the May 16 episode of Today below.

Zoe Saldana’s Weight — Doesn’t Mind It Was Revealed In ‘Allure’

“Zoe Saldana: 115 Pounds of Grit and Heartache” is the line on Zoe’s cover story.

The 5’7″ actress went on Today on May 16 to talk about her role in Star Trek, hints about her bisexuality and addressed the controversy right off the bat:

“It would have been wrong if they were lying about my weight,” she said. “This is how much I weigh. It’s something I can’t control. It’s who I am. I have a very thin frame, I was a ballet dancer. They wanted to do that, I don’t think it was to make an issue of my weight. I think it was to talk about that for a lightweight person, I seem to be really strong-minded.”

About the nude photo shoot, Zoe admitted: “I wanted to be bold and myself and be naked in a very symbolic way with my fans.”
