Ariel Castro’s lawyers are probably the only people in the world right now who have positive things to say about the Cleveland kidnapper. They say he is a family man who has been misunderstood.
New reports say that kidnap victims Michelle Knight and Gina Dejesus were chained, starved and beaten by Ariel Castro, but his lawyers have issued a statement saying that he is NOT a monster. Speaking on May 14, attorneys Craig Weintraub and Jaye Schlachet said Ariel is planning on pleading “not guilty” to four counts of kidnapping and three counts of rape.
Ariel Castro Pleading Not Guilty
Ariel’s lawyer Craig Weintraub said he is “pleading not guilty to all charges” of rape and kidnapping.
“The initial portrayal by the media has been one of a ‘monster’ and that’s not the impression that I got when I talked to him for three hours,” Craig said to Cleveland’s WKYC-TV. “I know that family members who have been interviewed by the media have expressed that as well.”
Craig argues that Ariel is a loving father who is committed to his daughter.
He is “extremely committed to the well being and positive future for his daughter, who he loves dearly. And if people find that to be a disconnect from what he’s alleged to have done, then the people will just have to deal with it. We just know how he feels about his little girl.”
The lawyers insist that Ariel needs a fair trial, as he has not been treated fairly by the media.
“I know the media wants to jump to conclusions and all the people in the community want to say terrible things about the person who’s accused, [but] we are not even at the beginning of the process,” Jaye Schlachet said of the wall-to-wall coverage the case has received. “If this was a marathon race, we’re not even at the starting line yet.”
While Ariel’s lawyers believe he is not a monster, they will have a hard time convincing the rest of the world to think that.
Michelle Knight & Gina DeJesus Treated ‘Like Prisoners Of War’
Michelle and Gina were rescued along with Amanda Berry on May 6, and the Daily Mail said the reason photos of Michelle and Gina haven’t been released is because they are in such bad condition.
Another source revealed Ariel’s basement was equipped with chains coming from the walls and dog leashes hanging from the ceiling. Michelle and Gina spent most of their time in the basement, and were held in the chains in “stress positions.”
One of the girls has difficulty moving her head around from being chained up. It was like they were POWs. They had bed sores from being left in positions for extended lengths of time.
If he left for long periods of time he would sometimes duct tape-up the women over all parts of their faces, even their eyes, only leaving an opening so they could breathe. Then he would just rip it off pulling off skin and hair.
If these reports are true, then no amount of arguing from a lawyer will convince anyone that Ariel is not a monster.

They only have positive things to say because thats a defence lawyers job and they will be paid very well in terms of fame by tv coverage etc.dont waste money just put him on dearh row and let those poor girls live the rest of their lives never fearing that man again

Just wait until they drag those women back through every evil this monster did to them. He is hated; If he had done this to my daughter, I’d pray for not guilty, his release, and then my kin would take care of him. That’s the way it’s handled where I come form. Not much crime there because of the fear of retaliation.
Seems they have a lot of sympathy for Castro and not the victims, they seem just as demented as he is. I wonder how these lawyers would feel if this were their daughters and sisters locked up like this for 10yrs?
I feel disgusted and repulsion towards these lawyers, they trying to defend a monster makes them a monster themselves, even worse, more like flies on feces, just for money what they’ll do, where is their family values and principles, or they have no empathy and are missing mental faculties, making them immune to cruelty? Please God for the sake of the victims of these atrocious crimes, please! designate appropriate human counsel that will keep human morale up and not degrade to the level of perishing fellow human beings, that are masters of degeneration, manifesting ignorance in all levels, not knowing that God is Great, and that karmic repercussion always affects accessories or protectors of dregs of society, even if they don’t fear God. GOD BLESS OUR CHILDREN AND HARMLESS DECENT PEOPLE THAT ARE DEFENSELESS.

The lawyers representing this disgusting Monster should be investigated themselves…. any human being that represents filth like this should be questioned . Attention grabbing pieces of crap. How can some lawyers sleep at night. I hope their careers are ruined after taking on this case.
He’s a kidnapper, torturer and rapist – sounds pretty monstrous to me. If he pleads not guilty and forces those women to relive their ordeal in court, that will be the last monstrous thing he does before being sentenced to life imprisonment.

Not guilty? What is his defense? “It wasn’t me.”??? They WANTED to be there? He probably believes that!! I know his lawyers need to defend the indefensible, but he didn’t seem like a monster to them? That’s cuz they are not teenage girls. He is acting like a typical abusive person who says they will never do it again and sound sincere. But really? Ten years holding 3 kidnapped women in his house as sex slaves? I’m sure it was all a misunderstanding.

Who would choose to live and not be able to leave the house, be beaten and starved, unless it was forced upon them?

I too think that deathrow is a to easy sentence for him, he should spend the rest of his life locked up, and I too believe that the prisoners will receive him with open arms…
He kidnapped three women, held them for an average of about a decade, repeatedly raped them, killed most of the babies, chained them from the ceiling, beat them, and he raped his own child…but the media and public should not demonize him or call him a monster? Who CARES about his side of the story?!?!?! I say send the lawyers to death row with him.

Not guilty??? what???This man has no shame. In this case I think the death penalty is just too easy. This man deserves to suffer and what better punishment to spend the rest of his miserable life locked up like the girls did. I can bet that the prisoners will receive him with open arms…

That’s our justice system. Sadly he also has rights, no matter what he did.
I had hoped he would plead guilty so these women wouldn’t have to be dragged through hell yet again by recounting what they had to go through during the time they were in his clutches.
This lawyer wants to make a name for themselves by letting him plead not guilty, the spotlight continues to be on the sicko, which is what people like him get off on.
Hopefully someone in jail will shank him before the trial and put an end to this piece of crap all together.
But of course he is probably in protective custody because this is such a high profile case. I for one will not follow the trial because it would make me too angry. I just want to hear he is convicted and will never see the light of day again.
Afterwards , hopefully he will end up as a girlfriend to some buff guy named Bubba, who will remind him everyday just a little of what these young women had to endure.

He’s gonna need devine intervention to get away with this.
He should just plead guilty and take his punishment.The taxpayers would save a whole lot of money and these women wouldn’t have to get dragged through hell again in the process. That would be to much like right though.
