Randy confirmed he’s leaving the competition show after 12 years and contestants Kree Harrison, Candice Glover and many others give their emotional reactions to HollywoodLife.com.
Randy Jackson is saying sayonara! The American Idol star is leaving after 12 years and he’s definitely left a huge mark on the music industry. HollywoodLife.com and a group of other reporters got a chance to catch up with the final two American Idol contestants: Kree Harrison and Candice Glover about Randy’s departure. But we also got to talk to some former Idol stars too.
How ‘American Idol’ Contestants Feel About Randy Jackson Leaving
Kree, Candice, Lauren Alaina, Angie Miller and even Alicia Keys spoke to reporters after the May 9 episode. They revealed what they think about Randy deciding to leave after so many years on the show. Especially since so many people consider him to be the rock of the show since he’s been there from day one.
Candice Glover: “Randy’s been there all the times that I was here, so he saw me grow and he saw me become an artist, not just a singer. I admire him, and I always look forward to his opinions. So I definitely don’t think any season after this is ever going to be the same without “Yo dawg!” I don’t even know — he might need to rethink that! I think the show is not going to be the same without Randy ever.”
Kree Harrison: “I know. I feel honored actually. This whole experience, I can’t imagine being Randy. Or Mariah or Nicki or Keith. Because we respect them so much And Randy has always been so nice and Humble. He always comes up after the show And gives us constructive criticism or tells us, ‘Keep doing that.’ I feel good about everything right now I don’t even know what to say.”
Lauren Alaina: “That’s really sad because he’s been there since the beginning and now none of the judges are going to be the same, but American Idol always figures something out so they will figure it out but it’s kind of a bummer, but it will be okay.”
Alicia Keys: “That’s so sad. I think he’s amazing. I really love him a lot for lots of years.”
Angie Miller: “I mean I love all the judges and whoever it is, it would be a pleasure to sing in front of whoever it is. I mean Randy’s always brought a lot and he’s always been so kind to me and said amazing stuff to me. He’s been a great judge. I’m sure it will be different without him but all the judges have just been incredible and said amazing stuff to me.”
HollywoodLife.com spoke to a source very close to the show who tells us that next year the show will be totally different.
“Idol next year is going to be different in format, with the focus on fun,” the source says. “If they are going to fire anyone, its Nicki, she’s a pain in the a**.”
Randy Reveals Why He’s Leaving After 12 Years
“Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season. I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It’s been a life changing opportunity but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures,” Randy told E! News.
