When Amanda Berry escaped Ariel Castro‘s torturous basement on May 6 with her precious daughter Jocelyn, 6, many questioned the paternity of the little girl who had been born in captivity. On May 10, the Ohio attorney general’s office confirmed that Ariel was in fact the biological father of the little girl.
Ariel Castro Father Of Amanda Berry’s Daughter
After Amanda and her daughter were rescued by next door neighbor Charles Ramsey, he revealed to CNN’s Anderson Cooper that the little girl had cried for her daddy. Charles even said Amanda told him that Ariel was the father of her baby — a fact the Ohio attorney general’s office confirmed on May 10 with DNA tests.
Ariel’s DNA did not match any open Ohio cases Dan Tierney, a spokesperson for the attorney general’s office, revealed to CNN. However, national DNA results are still pending through the FBI.
Ariel Castro Charged With Rape & Kidnapping
Ariel was charged with three rape and four counts of kidnapping on May 8 for the abduction of three missing Ohio women — Amanda Berry, Gina Dejesus and Michelle Knight. The women were held in Ariel’s house — mostly allegedly locked in the basement, and reportedly often tied up with ropes and chains. The were also allegedly repeatedly raped and tortured.
The women had all been held in captivity for approximately a decade, and never left Ariel’s house. On May 6, all three women and Amanda’s little girl were rescued after next-door neighbor heard shouting coming from the house and discovered a passerby trying to rescue Amanda from the basement.
All of the women were returned to their family’s in healthy condition, and Ariel and his brothers Onil and Pedro were arrested in connection to the horrific crime.
