Charles is the Cleveland neighbor who heard screaming coming from a nearby house while he was eating McDonald’s on May 7. Just moments after he freed the women, he talks about how he helped them escape and now he’s become an internet sensation.
Charles Ramsey has been dubbed the hero in the freeing of Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight. These three women were abducted and held captive in a dungeon. Ariel Castro and his two brothers, were arrested on May 7, after Amanda called 911. Charles, who ran over to the house after he heard screaming, spoke out in this interview and said that he was eating a Big Mac when he held the girls escape.
Charles Ramsey Talks About Freeing Amanda & The Girls
Charles spoke with WEWS-TV and gave an animated interview. He excitedly told camera crews and reporters: “I heard screaming, and I see this girl going nuts trying to get outside [of the house]. I go on the porch and she said, ‘Help me get out. I’ve been here a long time.’ I figure it was domestic violence dispute.”
He also said that he was eating McDonald’s when he heard Amanda screaming. We told you that the 911 call made by Amanda has been released. Since Charles’ interview, there have been remixes of it and McDonald’s says they are planning to reach out to him
“We saw an overwhelming response on Twitter calling on McDonald’s to do something,” a McDonald’s spokeswoman said. “As we committed, we will be in touch.”
The Girls All Lived Near Each Other & Have Since Been Reunited With Their Families
The girls were all treated at the hospital and have since been released. Amanda has a six-year-old daughter that was born in the home, it’s unclear who the father is.
Amanda, vanished on April 21, 2003, Gina, has been missing since April 2, 2004, and Michelle, 32, last seen in 2002 at age 21.
Ariel lived in the house since 1992 and he has been arrested along with is two brothers, Onil, 50, and Pedro, 54.
