Tonight on ‘The Voice,’ it was all about Team Usher and Team Adam! After Sarah’s heartfelt performance and the judges emotional reactions, we’ve got a feeling we know where the votes are heading.

May 6 was the first night of the live shows on season four of The Voice. While Shakira and Blake Shelton‘s singers got to relax in the audience, Usher and Adam Levine‘s teams hit the stage. Sarah Simmons brought her A-game once again, wowing the judges and the audience!

Adam Levine’s Team Sets The Bar

The first solo performance of the live shows was Adam’s Amber Carrington. Amber set the bar high, and gained a standing ovation from her coach Adam with her performance of Rihanna‘s “Stay.”

Caroline Glaser displayed her unique voice and guitar playing skills in her performance of Ed Sheerhan‘s “A Team.” It impressed all the judges, including Adam who said that she should be “so proud” of her performance.

Judith Hill is always a star — so it wasn’t a surprised that they saved her to close out the show. Adam had her singing “Feelin’ Good” by Nina Simone, to show her range. while it wasn’t her best performance ever, it was still impressive. All the judges were impressed — and Usher and Blake were upset that she wasn’t on their teams!

Team Usher Rocks On Stage

First up for Team Usher was Josiah Hawley, taking on Muse. He performed “Starlight,” impressing Shakira, who called it his “best performance” yet. Coach Usher even called him a rockstar!

Usher had faith in Cathia, assigning her “I Have Nothing,” by Whitney Houston. To “make her voice dance,” he took her in his arms to dance with her! Well, if that doesn’t help a girl out, I don’t know what will! While Shakira wasn’t impressed by Usher’s song choice for her former team member, Usher said he still felt she could win the whole thing!

Usher then chose “Against All Odds” by Phil Collins for Vedo, who admitted he had never heard of Phil Collins (yes, that Phil Collins). However, he learned quickly and nailed it! I was surprised, actually, as he hasn’t been one that has stood out in my mind, until tonight. And, he brought out Adam’s … dare I say, Italian accent.

Michelle Chamuel connected with herself when singing “True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper. Usher really got her to show her softer side in the performance, surprising everyone. When rehearsing, he even had her in tears. All the judges were overly impressed — and Blake even complimented Usher’s technique — having Michelle sing to herself in the mirror.

Sarah Simmons’ Voice Stuns Once Again

However, the best of the night was fan favorite Sarah Simmons. She worked impress coach Adam (and the rest of the world) with a Sarah McLaughlin classic hit, “Angels.” And impress she did! The song struck an emotional cord with Sarah, who related the song to when she lost a friend last year. Not only did it bring her to tears, but all of us too!

Blake called the performance “angelic” and told his team to “do that” when they hit the stage.

When Adam spoke about Sarah,  he couldn’t be more proud. First he thanked all the judges for their sweet comments. Then explained he the silence in the room during her performance.

“I felt the stillness in this room, because everybody was so completely enamored with what you were doing that they just couldn’t speak. I really believe that,” Adam said. “At the end of the day you are one of the most incredible singers to listen to, I’ve ever heard in my life.”

Adam & Usher Perform Together

Adam and Usher may be completely different, but the two stars both have one thing in common — their amazing talent. They came together on stage on Monday’s show to sing a live performance of “Superstition.”

The combination of Adam’s raspy voice (and guitar playing) and Usher’s smooth R&B voice created quite the show. Plus, we haven’t seen a mash-up that sexy in quite some time.

Tell us HollywoodLifers, what did you think of Monday night’s episode of the live shows? Who do you think did the best? Vote below!

Judith Hill hands done brilliant! Her voice, her stage presence, her interpretation and style, she is in her own category. Others are very talented but she is that rare star that every so often graces this world.

It’s obvious Sarah Simmons sings straight from the heart, and has the most beautiful, original, sound of any of the singers. There’s a lot of pretty voices that can hit all the right notes, but there’s very few like Sarah, that can inspire . She can sing like an angel and a rocker!

that is interesting. i was very disappointed in sarahs performance and i wonder if people are responding to the story, not the performance. some of her notes sounded very strained and when i compare it to the original, it falls short. i was surprised by vedo and michelle who i had not been impressed by until tonight
