Katy Perry ‘The Great Gatsby’ Screening: Boho Chic Or Too Busy?

Katy Perry Great Gatsby

The singer flaunted her toned tummy in one of spring’s hottest trends, the crop top, but did the heavy, printed skirt weigh her down? Was the printed look pretty or way too crazy? VOTE!

Katy Perry is on a stellar style run in NYC, showing off one interesting look after another, and that’s exactly what she did when she attended the Pre-Met Ball screening for The Great Gatsby at The Museum of Modern Art in NYC on May 5. The 28-year-old singer totally rocked the crop top trend in a satin, printed get-up and sported a floral headband in her hair. While I must admit I’m a self-proclaimed crop top enthusiast, it was the heavy fabric of her skirt and the awkward length that left me questioning her outfit choice.

Katy Perry ‘Great Gatsby’ Outfit:

I really have to hand it to Katy, she loves taking risks on the red carpet! Even when she steps out in an interesting, high-fashion frock I almost always find myself loving her get-up — but unfortunately that wasn’t the case when I saw her most recent ensemble. The awkward length of the skirt and the heavy fabric wasn’t flattering on her svelte frame. To make matters worse, Katy over-accessorized, pairing her premiere look with a pale pink cross-body Chanel bag and lace, open-toed booties.

If her skirt hit right below the knee I probably would have loved this look. I also might have been able to get on board with the look if the hemline extended to the ground and she paired the get-up with different accessories — but that wasn’t the case.

Katy Perry’s Floral Headband:

Katy paired her outfit with floral earrings by Lia Sophia, which matched the floral headpiece she wore in her hair. Her signature raven locks were styled in a braided up-do. While she looked so pretty, the whole get-up definitely had a lot going on. Dramatic lashes and a red manicure finished off her look.

While this definitely wasn’t my favorite look on Katy I still think it’s so cool that she took a chance on the red carpet. What do you think? Did her boho chic ensemble come off too busy or did you think she looked beautiful in the printed get-up? VOTE!
