Chris Broussard has offered an apology –albeit a really lame one — to gay NBA star Jason Collins after he called homosexuality a ‘sin’ and said Jason was not a Christian.
He who has not sinned cast the first stone! ESPN’S basketball analyst Chris Broussard is eating his words after saying that being gay is a “sin,” when referring to NBA star Jason Collins. Jason made headlines on April 29 for becoming the first gay pro athlete to come out. Now, Chris has apologized on Twitter, saying Jason “displayed bravery with his announcement.”
Chris Broussard Apologizes To Jason Collins
Chris took to Twitter to voice his apology.
Today on OTL, as part of a larger, wide-ranging discussion on today’s news, I offered my personal opinion as it relates to Christianity, a point of view that I have expressed publicly before. I realize that some people disagree with my opinion and I accept and respect that. As has been the case in the past, my beliefs have not and will not impact my ability to report on the NBA. I believe Jason Collins displayed bravery with his announcement today and I have no objection to him or anyone else playing in the NBA.
This isn’t really an apology! It is Chris explaining why he thinks the way he thinks, and yes he calls Jason brave, but he has not said sorry for saying such unkind words.
How Chris Broussard Dissed Jason Collins
Chris was speaking on OTL when he said the the Bible does not support Jason’s type of “lifestyle.”
If you’re openly living that type of lifestyle, then the Bible says you know them by their fruits. It says, you know, that’s a sin. And if you’re openly living in unrepentant sin, whatever it may be—not just homosexuality. Adultery, fornication, premartial sex between heterosexuals, whatever it may be—I believe that’s walking in open rebellion to God, and to Jesus Christ. So, I would not characterize that person as a Christian, ’cause I don’t think the Bible would characterize him as a Christian.
Chris should really think harder before he speaks! Plus, as a basketball analyst, Jason’s personal life is really no place for him to comment. Try harder next time Chris!
What do YOU think HollywoodLifers? Was this apology lame? Was it even an apology?
