The one thing I remember the most about Des is on the final 3 rose ceremony in which she was elimated. What I saw in that episode is woman who is not mature and lacks dignity and self-respect when she interrupted Sean at the rose ceremony with the intention of convincing Sean not to send her home (which she obviously feels in her gut) after the disastrous meeting between Sean and her brother. But why does one have to beg for love? Isn’t love freely given and freely accepted? We cannot make someone want us and love us – that someone has to want us and love us. We cannot make things happen, we have to LET IT HAPPEN. In this instance, Sean did not feel in his heart, that Des is the one he wants to spend the years of his ife with. Sean might have liked Des a lot, but I don’t think he liked her enough to fall in love with her. And this is where a lot of people make a mistake – they think liking someone means loving someone and they rush into a relationship and into marriage. Only to find out later, there is something missing, there is avoid in their heart – LOVE is not there.

In the end, I think Sean made the right choice, Catherine. I like the way Catherine put it about all the girls vying for Sean’s heart in THE BACHELOR: “I didn’t see it as a competition, but more of a matchmaking.” Obviously, Sean saw his match in Catherine.

Well said! I totally agree. Never beg for love from a man. It’s pathetic. :(

The last 12 months have produced some real losers for ABC’s primetime Monday nights. I refer specifically to their reality dating-mating shows The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. Ben Flajnik, Emily Maynard, and Sean Lowe were dismal disappointments for the same single reason … the degree of immaturity they each displayed on camera.

Now comes Desiree Hartsock. Her season #9 run of The Bachelorette has not even begun airing yet; and already the spoilers indicate she will duplicate the same disappointment as her predecessors, and for the same reason … profound immaturity.

Des was America’s sweetheart during Sean Lowe’s run as The Bachelor. She acquired the reputation of being the proverbial “nice sweet girl next door.” She also acquired the reputation of having strong religious convictions and high moral standards. She can quote the Bible at will. These are qualities that tend to indicate adult maturity.

But alas … the spoilers unanimously agree that it doesn’t turn out that way. Des’ choice for her Prince Charming is another jock with great abs. In sum … it’s just another case of the Freshman Cheerleader setting her hooks in the Captain of the varsity football team.

It is past time ABC stood back and regrouped their strategy regarding these two shows. It is obvious they have to raise the minimum age for participation to at least 35, in order to get some maturity.
