The fate of Justin’s furriest friend (so far) remains in limbo!
Not since the de-coating of the IKEA Monkey has the tragic tale of a famous primate captivated the world’s attention as intensely as Justin Bieber‘s pet capuchin OG Mally. The monkey, who was detained in Munich in March after Justin failed to sign the necessary paperwork to register him, has finally been given away, according to a report from the UK’s Daily Mail.
Justin’s team reportedly contacted German authorities to request they find a “safe and sheltered place, or a zoo” for OG, who was a 19th birthday gift from rapper Jamal “Mally Mall” Rashid.
Of course, there’s still a chance for Justin and OG to be reunited. German authorities have reportedly given Justin an ultimatum: Claim the OG by May 17 and pay for his “upkeep,” or send a letter officially declaring that he’s no longer wanted.
Before abandoning li’l OG, Justin posted a few pictures of himself with the monkey on Instagram, as well as a serene shot of the monkey having the sweetest of dreams.
“He’s like a human,” Justin mused at the time. (You know, the kind of human you abandon in a foreign country.)
More Justin Bieber Pet Scandals
Strangely enough, this isn’t the first time Justin has made headlines over a pet controversy.
A few months prior to the OG scandal, Justin gave his pet hamster PAC to a screaming fan after performing at Jingle Ball in NYC. Three months later, it was reported that PAC had died, apparently of “renal failure.”
And long before OG and Pac, there was Justin’s snake Johnson, who slithered his way into our hearts at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. Justin may not have left Johnson in Germany, or let a fan kill him, but the snake still managed to make headlines — you know, for being a super-blatant reference to Justin’s “Johnson.”
HollywoodLifers, are you disappointed that Justin gave his new pet away, rather than keeping him? Should he change his mind and take OG back?
