Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin was put on lockdown by the police due to reports of a gunman on campus. However, the lockdown was lifted when the suspect was lead away in hand cuffs.
Carroll University in Waukesha, WI, had been put on lockdown on April 16 because of a report gunman on campus, the school’s Office of Public Safety said. The school texted it’s 3500 students to say “Remain indoors until further notice.” The suspect has since been lead away in handcuffs by the police.
Carroll University On Lockdown After Gunman Seen On Campus
Carroll University, which is 30 minutes from Milwaukee, was put under lockdown, reported FOX News.
The university was keeping students in it’s classrooms while police investigated a report of a man with a firearm, after the public safety office received word of a man holding a gun near the tennis courts.
Student Affairs administrative assistant Yolanda Medina says no one was allowed to leave the campus buildings while the report is investigated.
Classes Cancelled At Carroll University
“We have classes canceled at this point for the rest of the day until we have further information,” said spokeswoman Melissa McGraw to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
“Two students reported seeing a man with a firearm near our campus and was walking toward Grand Ave. at about 10:20 a.m. Tuesday. Students, staff and teachers were notified at 10:39 a.m. and we have not had any reports of him being seen on campus since then,” continued Melissa. “We want everyone to stay safe and stay calm.”
The man is described as being in his 50s wearing a brown jacket and black hat last seen walking west from Barstow St.
This scary news comes one day after the Boston Marathon was bombed.
UPDATE: The lockdown is over after a suspect was seen being lead away by in handcuffs by authorities.
